Default power locks

From both the key remote and inside the car the power locks only occasionally respond. Currently most of the time just the driver side os working. Acts the same when the car is running and when it is off. Seems like the first time i hit lock or unlock it works but repeadelty doing it it stips moving the lock. Any ideas. Bad relay?

Could it be the door lock actuator, located inside the door?

I have read where the lock actuator motors get weak over time. Below is a thread that addresses this. There is even a DIY for the not faint of heart that goes into cleaning the little motors and making them work right again.

Here's the thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...r-removal.html

My passenger side does this also, but only when I try to cycle the lock/unlock repeatedly back to back. It's like the actuator is getting weaker and weaker with successive cycling. It works perfectly fine with normal everyday (vs. excessive) operation, though.

Is there any relation to outside temperatures? (If the actuators do the same thing in the cold of winter, the answer is no.)

Definitely sounds like an actuator issue. The 2nd gs is plagued with this problem.

There's another alternative of just replacing the small motor that powers the actuator.

Either way, the struggling off the door locks trying to turn over are a sign of wearing down.
