Default 13 yrs since its debut , has the love affair for the SC 430 continue ?

Wow , I can't believe the SC 430 has now been around for over a decade .

Do you still enjoy your SC after all these years ?
Is the SC more admired today or less admired
by the auto experts ?

I personally think the SC 430 is still a very striking car .

Cheers

Absolutely! It may not have the performance or handling of other cars I've had, but its reliable, comfortable, and a joy to drive. It's one of the top cars I've ever owned (And I've literally owned hundreds of cars in my 67 years). In some parts of the country, people stop and stare when you park.....probably not so much in California as they are much more common there than in most other parts of the country.

That being said, even though there are a fair number of SC430s in Florida, I am sometimes surprised at the interest it attracts. Case in point - whenever I venture to the "Tourist Trap" area of Orlando (International Drive near Disney & the "Attractions"), I get lots of people pointing and staring as we drive by. My wife and I rarely get down there because of the prices ($$$!), but we have a few favorite restaurants that we go to in the area once in a while. It always attracts attention.

The last time we went to one of them, when we came out after lunch, there was a group of about 75 young Japanese tourists flocked around my car (I always try to park it in an open area far away from other cars). They were all snapping photos of each other standing in front of it and jabbering away. When we walked up to get in, they were all smiling and giving us little bows and a thumbs-up (and taking more pictures) as we drove off. My wife said she felt like a movie star.

Its shocking the number of times per month I get "nice car!" from some stranger, despite the car being a decade old.

Still love it -- Luxlink helps a lot!

I get complements everyday, and break necks left and right. All the young bucks always pull up next to me revving their engines trying to race me. I take them all as compliments. I would love to race these youngsters, but just paid a $120 ticket, and not in the mood for more headaches so I just cruise at this point. I truly consider it a collectors item since there are very few in my area here in the Chicago burbs, and even less in my hometown in Oklahoma. I love this car and all my friends will agree I go above and beyond to maintain a 13 year old car. When I tell them its age, their jaws drop. This car was my dream car back in 2001 when I heard about it being released, and I have absolutely no plans to ever sell it... although I would love to add a 2017 SC to my collection. :-)

I plan on keeping my SC forever. Not only is it rare to see one in these parts (I think half of the SC430's reside in Scottsdale, Az) it still brings a smile to MY face every time I turn the key.

I've posted a few times on how people compliment the car - here is a quick summary:

At the DMV getting inspected in 2014, " there is no way this looks like a 9 year old car ..."

In a parking lot, mature blonde in a white 911 cabrio pulls up nearby, sees me putting the hard top up, " Now that was the convertible I really wanted."

At another parking lot, " How about we trade ? Your convertible for my new F150 "

At the gas station and a Millennium Silver 2005 SC430 pulls up behind with the top down, lady driver says, " Why do you have your top up ? " We proceed to have a conversation about the virtues of our cars.

Same gas station, old geezer in an even older Buick or something like that pulls up, " Now that, young man, is a real sports car. "

At my indie mech getting an oil change, another older gentleman says, " You're not serious, that cannot be a 9 year old car ? I have more nicks and scratches on my body than your car has on its body. "

I will keep this car until I can find a suitable replacement and it sounds like it will have to be a 2017 or 2018 SC-F convertible, if ever they make something like that. Otherwise, the SC will keep rolling on with pride.

I have now owned my SC for 3 years and still find myself doing the look-back when I park the car and walk away. Can't say that about other cars I have owned.

I'm thinking I am going to buy one of these once I sell my SC400 and GS300. They've always had a place in my heart
How outrageous is the insurance? I'm sure the 4 seats helps.

I just sold my 1998 SC400 and replaced it with a 2002 SC430. Believe it or not, the insurance on the 430 is about 100.00 a year cheaper than the SC400. (Allstate)

I currently insure 4 vehicles. The SC430 premium is second cheapest behind a Toyota Matrix. Has something to do with general history of claims for the specific vehicle, I'm told.
