3.76 Gear Ratio Differential for sc430??
Hi All-
Another member pointed out that there is a 3.76 differential on ebay for $250 shipped.
Isn't the 3.76 gear ratio optimal for low end torque?
Is it correct that this later model sc had the 3.76 gear ratio, and earlier models did not?
I'm not even going to entertain the idea of DIY.
Just curious about your thoughts on this?

Brett - a LSD is vital for better performance around curves - of course more important at speeds much higher than legal ... The science and different designs are actually very interesting if you want to read about it. Of course to go with the LSD, I am changing to summer max performance tires so the tire traction will match the rotational speed advantage from the LSD.

Very very tempted. Maybe I could hide it on my basement for when I have some free time. Then study Greg's DIY. I think the biggest problem with our cars is the conservative gearing..

I have a 2002 Sc430 and have been considering a swap to a 3.769 differential, but it looks like the axels attach differently to the 3.769 differential (from looking at pics and parts diagrams). Would a 2006 + differential work on a 2002?

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the same diagrams while researching. Notice the 8 bolts on parts # 41105 for the 02. The 06 doesn't have that same attachment. The 41105 is called a retainer on the diagram, but the 06 doesn't have it??

Yeah that is really strange. On the '06 diagram nothing attaches.
