Question '06 SC430 Nav stopped working

All:

I purchased my '06 SC430 last year and was clearing out the previous owners contacts from the phone directory and the unit went dark/black/dead/blank screen. The tilt still works but the door won't close and all I hear is a high pitch whistling noise. It got to the point that I had to remove the fuse because the sound was so annoying.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas what I can do (other than replacing the unit)?

Any & all help is appreciated.

Thanks, Bob

Is it the same sound as the door close motor makes when it did work?

You are saying that (with the fuse) the sound is made whenever the car is on?

Really doubt this will help, but it never hurts to do a complete reset of the computer by removing the battery cable for 10 minutes.

We've tried the reset with no luck. It's in storage now and the battery has been disconnected for 4 months. Maybe I'll get a surprise next week when I take it out but I doubt it. I've seen a posting about pressing the map voice button and I'm going to try that too.

Maybe the door has gone off of its track and that is the motor running attempting to close. (BTW, welcome to the forum.)

Once in a blue moon (once a year, if that), I get a black screen. I press the "Map Button" and the screen will turn back on. Sort as if I pressed "Display Off" to clean it. I've never had any screech sound, but that sounds like a motor starting to fail. Good luck.

Default Nav Not Working

I just purchased a used Nav Computer from Jacob Boucher per his ad on this forum.
When my son went to install it he discovered a loose wire to my unit and when the wire was replaced my unit worked fine. So I am now sitting with the replacement unit which I don't need.
I can't advertise that unit here on Club Lexus because I have not done 30 posts and only joined in February when I was looking for a replacement unit, so I put it on eBay.
If you check eBay you will see my ad there in case you end up needing a new unit.
