Default Bridgestone DriveGuard Run-Flats 245/40 R18 for SC430 2006

I have a set on my SC. They ride and perform great.
Tennman - You are so right on! I had the...
Bridgestone DriveGuard Run Flat 245 /40 R18 97W XL BSW RF - DISCOUNT TIRE
...installed yesterday, and have but a few miles on them. They are fantastic. Smooth, smooth ride (Are these really run-flats?!!), road traction is outstanding (I got up to 90 mph for about a mile or two on SoCalif. Interstate 5, lane changing, etc.).

I asked the tire tech why there is such a difference between the DriveGuards and my Bridgestone Potenza R040's? (I paid $340/tire for the R040's vs. $196 for the DriveGuards).
He told me that "state of the art" at Bridgestone has improved significantly since my R040's; that the R040's composition lent themselves to a surprisingly quick tread weardown.

I wonder why Bridgestone has not offered "credit" for the short lives of the R040's?

...whatever. I'm just really pleased with the DriveGuards ... at least in the first 18 hours of having them.
Stay-tuned. I'll share my thoughts in the weeks and months ahead.

I had finally decided to get the Michelin Non Run Flats and then I see this! Now......I'm back to square one. I am just so paranoid about run flats screwing up the handling.

Default new wheels/tires

Anybody tell me who has the best pricing on wheels/tires for an 2002? My current chrome plated as peeling and have some curb damage but everything I find is overpriced. Loved the ones on the earlier post? Tourmaline? Not sure what that is but looked like chrome.

Thanks! If you are referring to the original post (OP). I found the Tourmalines on Craigslist. They are not chrome. They are brushed aluminum made for or by Lexus.

SC430 - 2006 - < 30k mileage
Hello Folks! It's 6 months later. I want to report that my Bridgestone DriveGuard choice was a remains an excellent decision.
The 2006 SC430 now has about 2,000 more miles on it and these run-flat tires ride as smooth as though they were not run-flats. Wear & tear has been minimal.
I have not yet rotated the tires; but I've monitored and kept up the air-pressure.

If you're looking to replace your run-flats, please do yourself a favor and consider these.

Best to you all... Happy driving

Just put a set of Nexen N5000 on my Indego Ink Pearl w/ saddle interior. The Nexen tires are rated for 65,000 miles and ride and drive rest. Wheel are next for me.

The Nexen N5000 tires have a smooth, quite ride. Took my SC on a trip from north Alabama up to Branson, MO. Was getting up to 27 mpg on I40 going into Little Rock. I was very interested on watching my mileage since this was the first trip in our SC. Mine is a 2002 Indego Ink Pearl with Saddle interior. I got it this past September and it had only 70,144 miles on it. It was extremely clean so I just had to have it. It needed new tires so being a Auto Care Center manager at Walmart, I opted for the Nexen tires.

I wish good tires were cheap in my country. Importing them is so expensive.

I got 26.1 mpg with a fully laden car. Can see how someone could get 27 mpg if they are not carrying much and are gentle on the throttle.

I can attest to OBP's MPG. I could not believe myself.

....lol...I thought that was pretty common. I usually get about 25-26 mpg @ 80-85 mph & 26.5-28 mpg @ 65-75 mpg on trips out of town....not including city traffic (of course)
