Default OEM front seats to Racing buckets

Does anyone know the weight of the OEM seats?

For track use I need seats with a better fit to hold me in place. I expect light weight racing buckets would also give me a great weight savings. after the track season I can swap the comfortable OEM seats back in.

I am looking a different seats now. I have seen a member from Japan with very nice Recaro sport seats but they are not lightweight. I have seen Sparco and am looking at SaBelt. Racing buckets are not adjustable but I plan to have a bracket made that will allowmthem to tip forward for rear seat access.

I'm still in the exploratory stage but wanted to open a thread for anyone interested in following my progress or has experiences to contribute

Haha that's for sure. I sat in the OEM seats from the new STR Viper and they weigh 45lbs - very solid fitment, adjustable and comfortable. Racing buckets could be close to 20lbs after install ... So replacing the two front seats I should be able to save about 80 Lbs and get nicely held in for the curves.

Yeah i think the OEM seats are not comfortable or supportive at all. I've been thinking about changing out the seats with some sort of sport seat. Probably a recaro seat. My only think is that my interior is that saddle brown and i'd want to recover the seats to match. That'll add a solid grand to the total. So i may just have the seats rebolstered to add more side support
