I had to replace the ECU on my 2002 sc430. Although the original ECU was malfunctioningthe car started and was drivable (but the speedometer and odometer did not work, nor did the power steering). Following installing a used ECU, the car will now not start. I reset the ECU following the directions posted by others in this forum (both the gas pedal method and removing the fuses), but that has not fixed the problem. Do I need to have the dealer sync the key to the new ECU? Any suggestions on what my next move should be are appreciated. Thanks and happy holidays to all!

I believe your key has to match the ecu.

The ECU (or some control processor in the car) contains several keys in memory (it is finite). I believe that there are threads here about 'programming' keys - actually the key doesn't change, the car's memory is changed. Seems to be varying success in owners doing this themselves. Search and see what you turn up

When you bought the used ECU did the seller provide a key matched to the ECU? If not then you will need to have the dealer program the ECU to your keys using their tech stream software with the "all keys lost" option.

If you had at least one working master key then you could have tried the instructions posted elsewhere on the forum.

Ah FLYCT is absolutely correct! Your current keys will not work at all with the new ECU. Off to the dealer....
