Default SC430 on my wish list!!

Hey guys, I'm on the look out for an SC430. I think I want a car that I can work on and upgrade slowly and keep for a long time. I've been talking about it forever but I'm actively looking now. So hopefully I'll come across something that fits my budget and that is not completely torrn up. Lot's of SC's here that are an absolute inspiration.. wish me luck guys!!

Rare car here in Ireland. Saw an odd one here every now and again and really didn't find them very special. Over the years began to look at them more closely, bit by bit saw them in a new light and eventually it became an obsession. Several other cars like amg sl,s jags etc were also tugging at me shouting for attention but that was the problem, they all reminded me of a botox filled dumb blond looking for attention. The more I talked to car guys about SCs the more I wanted one. The reason was the majority of guys discounted them (ala Clarkson) yet didn't even know anything about them but could recite the specs for merc's and jag's like schoolboys sprouting stats on their favourite sports star. Just a few months back and after a lot of searching finally got one that I liked. I personally think they have a certain sort of retro look and feel which will stand the test of time. Met another one while out in her xmas shopping today with the wife and thats only the second one Ive passed in 3 months as against 100's mercs and jags. For my 2c all I will say is since I got her I'm still smilin.Dont be another sheep, life's short, go for it, worst case you will have no trouble selling it on but I doubt you will regret it. Good luck

Best of luck to you kuWuPt!

Bathman, I too like having a unique car, though here in Dallas the SC430 is only partially unique (if you pardon the poor grammar). There are quite a few SC430s here, fortunately, they don't duplicate like the Camry rabbits do!

Hi Harold. One reason for their scarcity I would imagine (besides the price over 100k euro here in 2002) is the weather. The top can really only be down here maybe 50 days a year max. However there are still a lot of both ragtops and hardtops here , beemers, mercs, jags, audis, and any number of less prestigious makes. I would guess that like myself its usually heart over head when these are purchased. Here we hope for a dry day not even a sunny day.
Enjoy

Thanks guys, I know exactly what you mean Bathman. I like the styling of the SC430 it has its own uniqueness and such an awesome canvas to start with. Going to look at one tomorrow, hopefully it's not ragged out.

Hip Hip...for another person smitten by this beauty..Born A Classic and museum quality...the Art Deco style ,V8, drop-top, ML sound, etc and etc and it is a Lexus...here in Tejas we get lots of hot days..come on down..i am art deco fanatic..so it all fit for me... I found mine online...Wilde Lexus in Sarasota FL, very professional people... still had new car smell... everyone said it looked new (one owner 2006 with 40k miles silver/black) i did see a comment : Insider Car News - ‎Dec 12, 2014 : "The new car likely will be nothing like the SC430, a car that looked much faster than it actually was...oh well i will suffer and press on .. good hunting ... GOT ONE!!! Excited!!! It's a 2002 twilight amethyst pearl with ecrue interior, it's got a 175,000 miles on it but engine compression test is good, has a horrible valve cover leak, the navigation drive does not read and the interior front seats aren't the best. It is going to be an ongoing project so I'll upgrade stuff slowly. I'm going to follow the same recipe I've always followed when I get a car, maintenance first, suspensions, get it reliable and driving smooth and then go from there.

Thanks man, but it wasn't quick. I've been looking for one for awhile now didn't really need it so it was just on the back burner but luckily this popped up and it's winter so prices of convertibles are low so had to pick it up. I'll start a intro/build thread and see where this goes..
