Spiral Cable/Clockspring 2005 Lexus SC430
Need some advice on a couple of things;
1. Horn doesn't work, Mode switch on steering column doesn't work, Volume controls on steering column work, cruise control doesn't work. No dummy lights are on - is this an issue with the spiral cable/clockswitch?
2. What should the cost to replace the spiral cable/clockswitch be?
Thanks for any replies

Had it replaced in my 2006 at dealership. Symptoms were the horn would not work when steering wheel was in a certain position and mode did not work. I diagnosed the problem from reading this forum and dealer service confirmed that it was the spiral cable...cost was part: $319.76; labor: $72.00; other: $50. Total: $441.76.

Spiral Cable/Clocksprin replacement
Appreciate the posts - Now the question is do I do it myself or bring it into a shop. Based on what I've read, it wouldn't seem that hard. Anybody have details on how to do this?

Does anyone know where to find a step by step procedure to replace the clock spring/spiral cable in our SC430's? Is there a specific procedure on the TIS? I haven't subscribed yet, but am willing to if the info is in there.

A simple forum search turns up multiple hits for "clock spring". Seems this is an inherent problem with our SC's. My horn works intermittently. I suspect it has to do with the position of the steering wheel on the clock spring. OEM part from a Lexus dealer seem to be over $200. But there are a lot listed on Ebay, some direct from China. However, I saw this one and was hoping it might work for my 06:

Has anyone ordered one from these other sources and, if so, did it work - for very long?
Thanks,
Rich
