Which white? Starfire pearl or White Gold Crystal?
Can someone describe the difference in the white paint of the earlier years
versus the later years ? White Gold crystal is the earlier version of white,
and Starfire pearl is the later white. Is one brighter ? Is one a "cool" white
and the other a "warm" white ? ( like flourescent light bulbs?)

Yes,
In my opinion, Starfire White Pearl is one of the best whites on the market. The starfire is more of a gray/white due to the color of the pearl flake and the White Gold Crystal is more of a yellowish white due to the gold pearl whitin the paint. If you are deciding between the two based on the model year you are selecting, I would go with the newer Starfire White Pearl. Overall yellowish vs. more whiteish with starfire.

Here are a couple photos of my White Gold Crystal SC430 and Starfire Pearl CT200h. If you don't think you can tell much of a difference, well, that's because you have to look at them from just the right angle in the sunlight to see the differentiation. I like both colors equally well, but I'm very glad my SC is the much rarer WGC since damn near every other white Toyota, Lexus and Scion on the road is Starfire Pearl.

I actually looked long and hard at mine the other day and it is just the flakes that are the difference. My SC has a little tint of gold - I remember our GS430 was Starfire Pearl and the flakes in that were a sliver like a diamond.

Stillline, I envy your DRL LEDs. If I only had the 2006+!

As a former owner of White Gold, I was sincerely disappointed to see it discontinued it. I now have matador red on my 2010 SC and now know it is the superior color. Lol.
That aside, I'd go for the 2006+ because of the varied upgrades. That's more important than what color of white you want. At this point in time, there isn't a great premium on the 2006+ models.
