Default Speaker question

I know there are a lot of threads regarding the replacement of speakers, and that is my problem, there are lots of threads. I did a search and didn't find exactly what I needed. Do you need to pull the door panels to replace the tweeters and midrange speakers?

In short, yes. They're not hard to pull though.

In retrospect, to quote the earlier response, " Yes!" The photo will clearly show you must have the door panel removed to remove the tweeter and mid-range speakers. Unplug harness connectors and remove hardware that secures speakers to door.

Taking off doors in the SC is no problem, I think the best tips were to PUSH IN the plastic tabs closer to the dash, and I believe that when you unscrew everything from the door and youre pulling out the doors panel, tp pull out & upwards first up close by the side mirrors to easily remove the panel from the metal door...windows down of course!

You can pay someone about $45 per door, or try it yourself. The first time I did it, I paid someone. I watched and learned. It was easy. There are 4 screws on the bottom of the panel, two on the side, one you can see looking up around the handle area, and one under the black piece of "carpet" that is in the handle. if I remember correctly one near or under the power window section...which I recommend you pull up with a plastic tool as not to scratch anything. The door panel is not exactly easy to get off, be patient it will come off. I can now remove the panels with confidence, and carefully do it in a few minutes. I hope this helps...

There's a great YouTube video about 30 minutes long posted by a SC 430 owner showing where all the screws and pins are. I used it when I repaired my 6 x 9 surrounds. Search for lexus sc 430 speaker repair by logistico.
