Default strut brace

Does anyone make a strut brace for the SC430?

Front end could use it.

Once again displaying his technical ignorance, Ed must ask why you are looking for a front strut brace and why you think the SC430 needs it.

OK Ed....In brief:

There are 4 struts on each car........one each behind each wheel.

They act like shock absorbers. What a "brace" does is link the two front struts (the right one and the left) and the two rear to each other other via a stiff metal bar.

This bar reduces chassis flexing thus improving handling.

Now try this: Take your two index fingers and hold them about 6" apart. Wiggle them around. Easy, right ?

Now pick up a pen or pencil and place the ends of it on the end of each finger. Now wiggle those fingers. See how much more difficult it is and how thet now move in unison ?

That's it !

Thanks, Larry ...

I did know what a strut is, but not a strut brace. I appreciate the thorough explanation.

supratrd

how much does that Tom's Racing upper front strut brace cost and how long does it take to get it?

Don't think I want the whole panoply of suspension stuff, just want to tighten up the front of the car which is loose as a goose.

I really like the idea of Larry being our "cavia". You try it out first, Larry, then let us know what we should avoid.

BTW, Larry ... did you order your wheels with the tires already mounted? After being to the TireRack site, I'm beginning to think hard about a new set of wheels and tires. I definitely like the Mich Pilots.

Why are you calling me "fish eggs" Ed ?

Yep, I ordered everything through Tire Rack mounted and balanced. I'm going to install tonight..........not drive though, the roads are still pretty messy here.

I must say, I called TireRack several times, and thet were extremely helpful in the final choice. They answered questions that I never even thought to ask.

If you call, ask for "Greg" on extension 626.

Default yup...

thanks Larry

...I've bought a lot of stuff from TireRack over the past 15 years myself!

They are great!

I think I get something from them at least once a year!

..heck, I just got an aftermarket wheel/tire package from them for my winter car!

Larry, Be VERY careful with those Mille's. I've now seen lots of posts on the VW forums about them bending very easily... same thing on the Porsche forums

The wheels do look great though!!!!!!!
