0-60 mph
My SC430 2002 was clocked 0-60mph at 7.5 seconds. I was told that that was pretty slow. Never had a tune-up with 65K miles. Does that seem normal?

Your cars 0-60 is normal. Although Lexus claims that the sc430 can go 0-60 in 5.9 seconds, Lexus has a reputation for exagerating 0-60 times.
Other more objective tests by Consumer Reports and Edmunds show 0-60 results ranging from 6.7 to 6.9, which seems more realistic for an sc in optimal condition. I have done several mods to my car, and I still cannot get under 6.5. Anyone claiming a 0-60 of less than 6 without supercharging is on crack. Just my two cents.

Last time I went to the drag strip my time was 5.75 sec 0-60 with about 3/4 gas tank and w/o a high rev start. Im sure I can do better with more practice. Note though I am not stock.
For OP yes sounds slow but depends on a lot of things you can check DIY like clean air filter, clean MAF, clean throttle body, not set on snow mode etc. how didnthey measure your time is also a factor.

I know you need a little more practice. greg your car will run around 5.5 and you are still stock no engine work was done meaning cams ect. and when you put the rear in around 5.3 and still stock. STOCK,STOCK UNDER 6.0

i'm 71 and I still like to kick it in the *** and I had 3 strokes but I've been into going fast all my life. did a lot of racing cars in my day. I think there are a lot of guys here that like to go fast. just look at what they do to their cars.

Fair enough guys. I'm not a race car driver. I have done some mods to my car too. I have an SRT cold air intake with chip, restalled torque converter, cleaned MAF and throttle body, new michelin pilot super sport tires, and running a sprint booster. I'm just intriged that you guys can get in the 5's. Must be something to do with my driving. On the other hand, CR tests and Edmunds have unbiased 0-60 tests in the mid 6's...

Take Off? Why, yes.
Keep in mind that this launch was on an asphalt parking lot with pretty good traction. Try taking off like this on most street surfaces and you'll just light up the tires and go nowhere fast. Bacardi11 speaks the truth when he says it's all in the take off. I ran my 5.75 second 0-60 time at the dragstrip where traction is the name of the game.
