air pump behind radio?
Greetings all
I have been a sc430 owner for 4 years and love the car. Things I have done with help from this forum; disabled tpms and installed non run-flat tires and turned the vsc light off using the jumper wire in the obd2 plug trick.
I now have a new issue, when I turn the key on or hook the battery back up there sounds like a small compressor running behind the radio. It runs for about 10 seconds, then shuts off then runs another ten seconds. I have done all the obvious things like turning off the a/c-heater controls, radio, opened and closed the doors on the radio and nav.. system. Tried unhooking the battery for 1 minute and discovered the sound is there even without the key in the ignition. Any Help would be appreciated.

unknown noise found
Thanks for the reply. I decided to investigate further, took out the center console, the temp. control panel and removed the radio/cd/tape player. Turned on the key and no funny sound? Hooked the radio back up turned on the key and the sound came from the cd player. I took the top off the player and turned it on and the arm inside that moves the cd into place is stuck and the drive gear is slipping and making the noise. I have tried to pry the thing loose with no results. At least I know what the problem is.

Well, that's good to hear (better than a major engine component). One of the tried and tested fixes for CD player issues is a hard whack to the side of the unit. I know it sounds barbaric but it works for stuck CDs and other misc problems for lots of owners. Might help rather than a new headunit or a total tear down.
