Default i want an sc430

i know theres probably a crap load of similar posts but i just wanted to introduce myself. my names justin and i currently own a 92 sc400. ive been debating getting a 430 for a while now. i guess most of my doubt comes from friends who hate the 430 but i adore it. i dont see too many for sale so i wanna be informed before buying one. most of the ones on cars.com and autotrader are around $20k which is unfortunately out of my price range. im looking at $10k which is an upgrade considering i bought my sc400 for 5g's. i know about the neiman marcus and pebble beach editions but which is more rare? and i see you guys dislike rft's which come std, why is that? and i hear you guys hate on the ml sound system as well as the oem so which is the way to go? and is there a specific year thats best? i wanna get the biggest bang for my buck but i know everyone does. sorry for being a chatterbox. id kill for a red interior! looking forward to replies

You're probably looking at an early 2000s high mileage SC for 10k.
I hated my RFTs and gave them up once I used up their useful life. No regrets
The ML sound system comes equipped from the factory.
One of the PB editions has a red interior - thinking maybe 2005 but PB owners here would know better.

Hope you join the SC family - I just passed another SC430 on the highway today. We exchanged a friendly and brotherly wave - all SC owners feel some kind of connection.

Don't know what you can get for 10k, probably not much. If you can swing it, the 06 and newer came with a 6 speed. I had to pay 26k for my low mileage 07 that I purchased late last year.

You aren't going to find an SC430 for $10,000.00 unless it is a mess. The one I own right now is as old as possible (May, 2001), and when I go to sell it in the Fall, my guess is that I should be able to get about $25,000.00 for it, retail. Right now, an SC430 is simply out of your price range. I suggest you take that $10,000.00 and, after getting the shift key on your keyboard repaired, do some more searches on cars.com and use the search filter for price, because the last thing you want to do is go into debt for a used car.

for a low mileage 07 id expect nothing less than 20k. thanks for your input.

ive found quite a few sc's for 10k. i just cant decide which ones best:
-02 absolute red 430 with tan/black int. 75k on it. was hit and repaired on the rear right. has a salvage title.

-03 430 gold ext on saddle int. 130k on it, hit and repaired on the front, no frame damage. clean title

-08 430 gray on black int. 39k damaged all over w/salvage title.

all the above are goin for 10k except the 08, guy wants 5k.

idk about your bein worth 25k. maybe if the sc wasnt discontinued then yea but i doubt it.

Hmm. I paid $30K in 2012 for a 2007 with 10,700 miles on it. It was practically brand new.

I've seen pleanty of low mileage SC430s (early 2000s) for $15 to 17K. High mileage ones can be had, if you're patient, for $13K.

I've seen one or two salvage for $9K to $10K that looked decent but they were probably a mess. So I'm going to have to go with tfischer on this one even if I don't think he's ever going to get close to $25K on his 2001

Can you post a link to the 08? I'll buy it now, pay to have it shipped, and store it for spare parts.

The engine alone is worth WAY more than that.

Well OP, if you are getting a damaged car, there could be issues with the hardtop. So why get an SC430 if there could be issues with the hardtop ? Might as well stick with your 400... Fixing a damaged hardtop/mechanism could easily be up to $5000 ....

I would not buy a salvage title car. if you went to sell it the car would worth nothing.

As soon as that sale goes through, could you send the buyer my way? I have a bridge to sell him.

im with bacardi on this one... im sure you can find a good one for around 10 but with high mileage... stay away from salvage!! and dont rush into buying one.. take your time, the right car will come... things always go wrong when you push for something..

A friend of mine bought an 02 last year with 110k for $12k which I thought was a steal. It looked great and thought it probably could of went for $15k. I just sold my 02 for $22k which only had 41k miles. The buyer got a deal. On the other hand I paid $40k for a 2010, which is usually a steal. Unfortunately, this wasn't. I think you need to save up for few more thousand.
