So I guess no one thinks this car will ever be any sort of a collectors car? What does this car have, or rather what is missing with this car in order for it to become one (besides age)?

As Lexus's first hard top convertible, I do consider my SC430 a collectors' car and I personally never plan to sell it.
PS. As another member on this forum put it, the mechanics and fluidity of the top folding into the trunk are still the most exciting 28 seconds in auto history. :-)

In 1997 I bought a 9 year old 1988 Cadillac Allante for about $9K. I babied that car for 15 years and only drove it about 3K each year hoping that one day it would be worth as much or more than I paid for it. 2 years ago after having that car for 15 years and only adding 50k to the clock I sold the car for less than $4k. That was less than half of what I paid. The lesson I learned was that you should buy a car that you love to drive and drive it whenever you want. If you want to buy something as an investment, cars are not the best choice. Most of todays cars will depreciate even when todays 20 something generation considers them classic cars 20 or 30 years from now. The best advice is buy the car you want and "enjoy the ride". I loved my Allante but it was a finicky car and became expensive to find parts for. Now I drive my 2002 SC430 and love it. It is not my daily driver but I plan to drive it more than I did my Cadillac
