Question Rear View Mirrors

For the past several months my driver's side rear view mirror has not been working. I finally got around to looking for a burnt fuse and found NO burnt fuses. My question might have stopped right there but the weird thing is that the mirror started working just fine!!! Well, I was all happy at this point thinking that maybe the fuse just needed to be taken out and reinserted due to a poor connection. But, when I double checked the fuse placement diagram, I realized that I had put the fuse in the wrong slot. So, I put it in the RIGHT slot and now it doesn't work again!!! One of those "What are odds" kind of things. So, I looked again but the slot that I accidentally put the fuse in - is not supposed to have a fuse - the slot is not labeled as anything. So, the bottom line is: ALL fuses are OK and all are in the right slots but ONLY my driver's side rear view mirror doesn't work. And since my weird mistake, I also know that connections and motors controlling the mirror is OK too! Any ideas?
Thanks

It looks like no one had run across a similar situation as jluquette.

A friend of mine has an '05 LS430 (135kmi) who no longer can control the rear view mirrors, however, they still tilt downward when the car is placed in reverse. So that tells me that the motors & gears (at least the vertically moving ones) are still functioning and fine. I suspect that the controlling switch on the dash is the root of the problem. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any thoughts other than cleaning or replacing the controlling switches?

(Yes, I know that this is the SC430 forum but our controls are very similar if not exactly the same as the LS controls and I'm familiar with the folks on this forum and know that the expertise residing on this forum is top notch. I'm not familiar with the LS crowd. They are probably similarly savy, but once again, I'm not familiar with them.)

I've had instances where the switch was the culprit, spilled liquids especially coffee etc. A cleaning of the switch internals with a maf cleaner helped....maf cleaner because it is made to clean contacts which are encompassed in plastic, without having any undesired effects to the plastic.

I'm not familiar with MAF cleaner. Are you referring to plain ole contact cleaner?

Contact cleaner would work.... this is what I was talking about, similar but I believe it doesn't effect the plastic components of the switch..(plastic drying out and becoming brittle)
