Default This is what I got for $2207.38. Your $.02

Went into a nearby Toyota dealer last Wednesday for an oil & filter change. This is what I left with on Friday. Oil & filter, new brakes all around, new front rotors, refinished rear rotors, two front struts (shocks whatever), front end alignment, new battery, new serpentine belt, replaced timing belt, front seals, water pump. This is the first real money that we have spent since buying the 04 in 2008. I replaced the battery and the belts because of where we live now (Florida) and because of the age of the timing belt (not so much mileage) the serpentine belt was all cracked and dry looking. Plus they had a special on the timing belt $399.99, I figured better safe than sorry. Same with the water pump,($174.11) it was off, so why not put a new one on. So your thoughts on what was done and what it cost. Now she can drive it around and be somewhat worry free. By the way the mileage is 58,298. Also they gave me 15% off the total bill, plus $25.00 for a managers special, that's how the bill came to the $2207.38. Oh I almost forgot, they also gave me a new Rav to use for the three days. Only paid for gas.

While it's a large chunk of money all at once, you got a good deal! Assuming they used all Toyota / Lexus parts and you got a free loaner for 3 days, even better. You also have a trouble free vehicle that will give you peace of mind for many miles & years to come plus you created a good relationship with a local dealer.

A good deal and also brings your warranty responsibility up to date.

Which Toyota dealer did you use? We live off SR64, east of I75 and so far have only used Wilde Lexus for service.

Good deal. That's a lot of work/parts for the money. You should be smiling.

The OP said he used a local Toyota dealer, not a Lexus dealer. Still, a very good deal. Plus having a loaner car is a real bonus.

I am curious, I have a service manual and it does not show that you have to remove the water pump to change the timing belt. The manual specifically says "inspect water pump and replace if necessary" Is this not correct? I am not saying it is not a good idea. Just that it is not required when you are changing the timing belt. The OP indicates "it was off anyway". Why would it be off anyway?

I was always under the impression that you had to pull the front off to get to the timing belt and that the water pump was a part of the assemble that came off. I think it just makes sense to replace the water pump as long as your in the same area .

That milage is a little low to need new rotors. They probably could have turned them and save you some $$. And they might have got you on the serpentine belt. Gatorback belts are better than OEM and cost $20 at any parts store. It's a 5 minute job, so hopefully they didn't charge for labor. But overall, that's not a bad deal.

Agreed as to the fact that it is good to replace while you are there. I am just saying that the service manual does not show or describe having remove the water pump to change the timing belt. Does anyone know if this is true.

Bay Ridge Toyota quote me $2800 for the timing belt & water pump, new rotor & pad, no loaner, not even a free oil change.

You got a good deal (two shock along cost $400/part)

Yes, you could argue that at 58K miles there wasn't that much risk for a failing waterpump (especially in a Lexus), but since just getting to it is where all the expense lies, why not change it I guess.
