I drive most times with the top down here In Florida. The tire noise comparison i described between the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and DWS tires is what i hear with the top down. Neither tire is noisy but when compared the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are quieter.

There are several Michelin "Pilot Sports" and each are different.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports (summer tire)
Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (summer tire)
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (summer tire)
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP (summer tire)
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (all season tire)
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP (all season)

I'm looking at the Discount Tire site and the widest DR-33 rim in 18" is 7.5". My SC came with 8.0" standard wheels. Did DT sell you 18/7.5" rims?

The Continental DWS 245/40R18 specs call for a rim range of 8-9.5" per tire rack site.

Personally I would think about going with Lexus G-Spider rims, available from Sewell Lexus for $223 each for 18 x 8" or $210 each for 18 x 8.5" with club Lexus discount. http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2002/2968.html

To the OP, I might be able to help you. I am running OEM 18x8 twisties with Conti DWS and you are running the same tires but with Drag wheels. We can meet ( I will be in the Marietta GA area tomorrow evening ), drive the same roadway and the same distance and see if your vibrations are worse than mine. If you want to do this, PM me.

I probably have about 30 minutes or 1 hour tomorrow evening in the Marietta GA area if you want to do this concurrent road test. I will be in East Cobb. If you are worse off than me, then it means your Drag rims are the problem and you can tell Discount Tire about what we did. I am a DT customer too for my other cars and they can be quite understanding when things just do not work right.

Indeed. I'm really disappointed to discover this, and it is certainly out of spec. No question these wheels have to be changed.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I had already realized these wheels needed some additional offset since they are so *sunk* inside the fender wells. Being 7.5in wide isn't helping.

Even if they car wasn't driving poorly, it would be necessary to install something other than DR-33s with these tires.

Right now I'm thinking of replacing these with a TSW 18x8 Vortex.

Consider TSW Nurburgrings. The mesh pattern is similar to G-spiders and they are rotary forged so they should be lighter while being stronger and more resistant to getting bent. I have them on my RL in 18x8 and they look pretty good. Bot from DT also and there were a few minor mess ups on their part before they sent me all the right parts to fit them on. But eventually they worked out great for me. Good luck and tell us how it works out.

Here are the DWS specs on the Continental site.
http://www.continentaltire.com/www/d...tasheet_en.pdf

They also show approved rim widths of 8.0-9.5 for 245/40ZR18 DWS tires. 7.5" may work but they are definitely outside the approved width range.

FYI....the DT guys are suggesting I go with Lumarai wheels.

Have to say after looking at the site I'm impressed with them. They are exact fit for the SC430.
