Default Spark Plugs- E3, Pulstar, Brisk, Bosch 4 tip- do they work??

I recently installed denso OE plugs on my sc430. I noticed no performance gains. I have a friend that installed E3 plugs on his Civic Si, and said the plugs made it feel like a different car. I road in his Civic and I agree- the E3s really made a big difference.

I'm nervous about going non OE, but I am really curious about these other plugs.

Does anyone have any DIRECT experience with E3, Pulstar, Brisk, or the four tip Bosch?? Brisk seem to be brand new in the market-thought??

I used the Bosch 4 tip's in my GS 300. Bad decision. Idle was never as smooth as the OE Plugs. You are looking at replacing the wrong part if you are looking for performance gains. I'm guessing the reason your friend felt a difference in his civic was because the old plugs were old and getting bad, not because his new plugs were some "miracle spark plug." Even if they were better, you'd be looking at a 1-2hp gain MAX, but might not hold the smooth idle the OE's do.

Thanks for the message, very helpful. My buddy replaced new OE Toyota plugs, and I assume they were not worn.

I agree the OE idle in the Denso plugs is smooth. I'd rather not waste an entire afternoon changing plugs again- but I am sure curious about the validity of all the miracle plugs. Furthermore some people swear by these alternative plugs, which makes me even more curious...

I have also read about horror stories with non OE plugs, such as misfires and blown engine coils. That never seems to happen with the OE plugs...

OK I was going to ignore this conversation but I couldn't help myself. If you have two plugs that are both functioning properly and are the correct tip temperature for the intended purpose. One plug cannot provide more power than the other. A spark plug does not provide any energy. It initiates an exothermic chemical reaction and nothing more. The power is all in the fuel. Your buddy is a victim of the old "perception is reality" we humans seem to fall for all the time. I paid for these special plugs and they must be better so my car feels more powerful. There is no evidence to support that conclusion.

Well stated. Agree totally on OE replacements. They were designed optimally.

Now some people have hallucinations that make them happy, I will not stop them, to each his own. Science is science though. Data, that is what it is all about.

It is better to ignore all snake oil bull than to risk missing some "magic".

JZWU- I'm a little perplexed by your comment, so are you against "snake oil" or against "magic"?

LOL I am against both snake oil and "magic" (because it doesn't exist).

Sorry for my English.
