Default Thinking about an SC430

Hi everyone,
I've been on the market looking for a lexus for my 3 teenage kids, 2 girls/1boy. I've been debating between the 3GS and the Sc430. Practically the 3GS is good, but my heart is set on the Sc430. My budget is $30,000 and I live in the Houston. I need some opinions on which car is better (leg room on the SC, mileage, safety, anything a parent would think about ). Keep in mind that I posted on the sc forum for a reason! Also I saw this 2006 Lexus SC430 with 58k miles for 29k, and I would like to know what a good price would be.
Thanks.

In my personal opinion at least the drivers seat must be all the way back to have your feet right, so there is no leg room at all for rear passengers. You could move the passenger seat forward and fit a little kid behind it, but this car is really a 2 seater. Sorry.

It will be challenging to get all 3 kids in the car at the same time if you get an SC430. My 3 year old fits in the back but the front passenger seat needs to be moved up some ways.

Let the kids sit at home and buy the SC430!

OBP, did you fit a car seat for the 3 year old, or just a booster seat? And what about the seat belt in the back?

Thank you

If its for all 3 kids, i'd go with the GS. Teens have friends so back seats and four doors makes a lot more sense. If you want the sc430, get it for yourself as a 2nd car.

Ditto ^^^. The GS is for you. Better yet, buy both. Good luck.

A great price for a 2006 would be 26k. The car is built for two persons, not four.

An SC is all wrong for teenagers for many reasons. A GS might work, but if you are limiting yourself to Lexus cars, I'd get them an RX. It's safe, there's room for 5, it will haul packages, and it is not subject to an inclination to hot dog it.
Actually, one of the most often recommended cars for teenagers is a used Accord - ones that are 3 or 4 years old are excellent cars at a reasonable price.

I already have a RX and my kids hate it. They don't want to be known as a "soccer mom".
Also if I bought them an Accord they would be destined to a "doom of uncoolness."

I'm just using my kids as a cover because I would love to have an SC, but I have too many cars according to my wife.

Hey Jasonone, I fitted a flexi back car seat suitable for a 25-40 lb kid. So not something big and bulky like the convertible harness type car seats. The back can detach and it can become a simple booster only seat base, which I will probably do in the next 1 year or so. Cheap solution from babies r us. This car seat does not have the latch system so it is fastened using the car's seat belt. Do a search, some members have fitted Britax car seats in the back.

What kids think of how cool is a car that they are given free to drive should make no difference. A parent's job is build character and judgment into his children to enable them to make mature decisions when they are on their own.
If they don't like the car you deem best for them, just take it away and let them take the bus.
All of a sudden the Ford Escape is looking pretty good.
