Car won't start
Got in the car today, 2002 SC430, turned the key, car cranked and cranked but no start. I'm guessing I'm not getting fuel. How do I troubleshoot?

When you insert the key does the security light on lower left panel go out?
Try another key and report back.

I think you're right. My key just broke and I inserted the key part in while holding the chip in my hand. My wife is out of town with the other key and will return tomorrow. In the mean time do I just need to keep the chip close to the ignition switch?

You were correct. I held the chip section up next to the key piece at the ignition switch and the car started fine. Now I have a Lexus key blank that holds the old transponder. Can any Toyota dealer cut me a new key?

Sewell parts will sell you a new PRE CUT key shell for about $70. Select the option, yes cut to my vin number.

You just insert the guts from your old key into it. No programming required. I just did this last week . After ordering you need to send them a copy of your registration via email or fax showing the vin number of your car and it proves you are the owner. They use the vin number to research the proper cut for your car.
When you register for Sewell parts use your club lexus user name and you will automatically get the additional clublexus discount.
Official lexus key shells are more robust than aftermarket shells.
