Default Im new sorry to bother

So i have already decided to buy a Lexus, I had a few questions, it would be great to have some answers. I honestly am in love with this community i read over 100 posts, pre-joining and said to myself "Im getting a Lexus!" . So i am pulled between a 2002 SC430 and most possible a 2006 RX330/ or the RX400h. I wanted to know if maybe there was a price difference between Maintenance of the SC vs. The RX. Im not cheap but i am single and love both cars its just a thought. Also i have Geico is their a premium spike for buying the SC vs. RX. and last question i would love to put 22's On the RX what is the the Rim size and Tire size i can use to put on the RX330, without lifting or lowering, so i have to buy new wheels vs, lets say 20's.
Thank you so much if anyone can answer any of these. Proud new buyer soon!

Those are totally different cars. We have a SC for me and RX450H for the family. We are getting about 25mpg on the RX - not sure yet if the hybrid was worth it, but the drive is great. RX has 19" sport tires which look great. The RX forum probably has some threads about wheels. I would think the maintenance is about the same for the SC and RX330 but haven't had our 450H long enough to comment on that. Read the sticky about buying a used SC and look for something similar on the RX forums - there's a separate forum for the RX400h.

Good luck. Either way you'll love it. I would never trade my SC for the RX though. In Fl you get a lot of top days too!

You're comparing apple to oranges.. but I've had 3 different lexus makes GS, IS, SC. And as far as maintenance free driving goes Lexus is best auto maker period in my opinion. I have a 02' SC 430 that is rock solid. You definitely want to do a custom 20" to correct the factory offset on it though. But the SC is a 2 seater and the RX is a true passenger car... Make a choice based on your lifestyle. I would never have the SC as my only car.

You can never put the top down on an RX and anyone who tells you a sunroof is as good, is either lying,or doesn't knows what they're talking about. But I could be biased.

I've had both a RX and SC and can say neither ever required any repairs, only scheduled maintenance. Good luck with your decision.

How about get both I have both and I loved them. have not done any repair beside regular oil change & regular maintenance.

Since you want to put 22" wheel....go with the RX, its a more particle car & still very comfortable even on 22"

I've had an SC430 since it went on sale, and it's nothing but fun, but you can't go to the Home Depot and pick up a storm door unless you also have something a bit more on the practical and versatile side. After several crappy SUVs, I found a used '04 RX and think that this is a wonderful combination of vehicles.
In other words, buy both.

Sort out what you like or need 1st. Hope you decide on an SC though. I am biased, I have both.

Let's be real here with a little advice from a 19 year old.. If you're single, what better way to get ladies than to have a great looking Lexus drop top? It's got better power and so much more fun to drive. Do you want the opposite sex to see you in a family car? No, they want someone who pushes the limits and buys a fun car. Slap some 20s on the SC, lower it, and there you go. My girlfriend was in awe when I first pulled up to her house in my new-to-me 2002 SC430 2 years ago.

The only bad thing about the whole opposite sex thing is that there is virtually no back seat in the SC

Spoken like a modern teenager - a child of the 21st century, and what a breath of fresh air amidst the thick smog of practicality around here!
Well said - one should choose his vehicle toward the goal of banging hot chicks, and what is a more appropriate vehicle for the school parking lot than an expensive luxury convertible.
No wonder the US is ranked 37th in educational achievement.

Hey man, I graduated top 20% of my class, and have a 4.0 and made the chancellor's list in college. You guys said all that needed to be said about practicality, so I thought I'd have a little fun and show him a different side of the car. I appreciate my car and take grrat care of it. My parents didnt want to buy me a crap car like a lot of kids get. If it helps, I truly believe it made me learn to appreciate what your parents give and to take care of your belongings. Loosen up and have some fun. Sorry if I offended you.

We are all just having fun here.
Also, I did not know the Chancellor kept a list.

If you achieve a 4.0 then you make the chancellor's list, while a 3.5 puts you on the dean's list.

A 4.0 gpa (with an "A" = 4?) puts you no higher than the top 20%? What does it take to be in the top 10%? To be Suma? To be Magna?
