Default Wheel spacers

I know there have been lots of threads about spacers, but I thought I would add this tip.

Because I am running on air suspension and the wheels go up into the arches when it is slammed I just wanted to add small spacers to bring the wheels out the maximum I could without any mods to the fenders or liners. I worked out that I wanted 10mm on the front and 15mm on the rears.
Ordered hubcentric spacer with extended studs from Germany. Great quality.
The fronts were easy because when the caliper is off there is a gap in the back plate to allow the longer studs to be fitted, but when I got to the rears the studs were too long to go through the hole in the hub as they hit the back plate before clearing the hole.
I phoned round to try and get a 27mm twelve point socket to fit the centre hub nut with no luck.
Gave it some more thought and realised that if I put the stud behind the hub at an angle as I turned the hub it popped through the hole, magic.
Used a socket over the stud and a spare wheel nut to pull the spline home.
It does not show in the pictures, but I did put the locking cage back on the hub nut before I was finished.

Just thought I would let you know in case anyone else has this problem.

Best regards
Steve

Very nice Steve! Glad it worked out for you. Do you have an after pic with the wheels being flush? I'm running 30mm rear and waiting for my coils to come in before I slam it.

Hi Lexis

I will take some pictures over the weekend and post them.

What coilovers have you ordered?

Best regards
Steve

Looking forward to the photos. I'm going with the Megan LP's. They should be in by the end of the month. Best pf all is my Lexus dealer is installing them for free.

Hi Lexis and Mandy

Photos showing spacers fitted. As I said they are not as flush as some, because I did not want to alter the linings or fenders.
Couple of pictures at ride height and a couple when it is fully down.

Lexis, I am amazed that your Lexus dealer is even fitting your Megans, let alone doing it for free.
My dealer will not touch anything that is not OEM and purchased from them. They will not even alter the C Best settings over here, they say it cannot be done even though I have taken the printed options to them that I got from CL.
Don't get much customer service in the UK unfortunately.

Hope you enjoy your Megans, they were the best mod I had done until I changed up to air.

Best regards
Steve

Steve, what brand are the spacers and where did you source them from? 15 mm all round?

Love the last pic Steve. Your SC looks amazing!! My Lexus dealer sponsors my car in shows and promotions. In return I advertise for them and recieve free labor on any mod or maintence. I provide the parts.
Anyway, great job on the spacers and air suspension!!!

Thanks Mandy, I think I'm about done now.
I have a slightly different idea for led DRL's (nothing radical) that I am about to start soon, but I am off on my annual trip down to Le Mans this week.
It is the highlight of my year, such a fantastic road trip, I love it. Hope the weather is kind to us this year.

Best regards
Steve

Hi harleydjce

The spacers are German from SCC Technik. Although I ordered them from a UK company they were shipped direct from Germany.
I have 10mm at the front and 15mm at the rear. The max I could use without any mods to the liners.
They are superb quality and arrived in a couple of days. They do not come with extended studs, you have to order them separately. I asked them what studs were required.
Heres the link.
