Unwanted head on kiss on the SC!
A month to the day, 09/11/11, a 98 Ford Escort station wagon driven by a lady was on the wrong lane and met us head on. 35 mph on both vehicles, happened on a curve. We were headed home from a friend's party.
I would like to forget what happened so I will not elaborate. The wife and I are OK, thoroughly checked and good to go. The lady driving the Ford received a citation.
I just picked up the car today. 30 days after the accident. Needless to say, I have lost a few top down weekends. But not crying on spilled milk. I will post some after pics when the weather gets sunny so I can take a few good shots. Overall I am happy with the repair. Not ecstatic since they missed a few items. Will have to bring it back to the shop.
I am happy that the SC is back in the garage. Now time to install the LL!
So here are the before pictures taken 09/12/11 at the wrecker, 50 miles away from home. Had it transferred to a reputable body shop on our side of town and repair started 09/14. Heck it took them only 4 weeks!!!!

Glad you are ok..........there's no way you see that coming.
I recently witness a woman cyclist struck by a van and tossed 15 feet while I'm just inches away from the opposite direction. I feel bad for both the cyclist and van driver because the woman was hurt (even through she ride negligently & cross in red). It would be me hitting that woman if I reach that intersection two second earlier. Feel bad for the driver because there's no way he saw that coming!!

Glad all are safe and you have it back together. Make sure you get a full alignment if you didn't already!

Full alignment coming. Maybe time to dump the RFT's! Thanks for the reminder.

No the airbags did not deploy. Which in itself is scary.
Been researching this issue.
Looking at some info on airbag deployment, there are 2 sensors, one on the front bumper and one I think at the cluster unit (Do not quote me, have not spent a lot of time on this).
Have not figured out how the sensors detect a bump for it to deploy.
The airbags will not deploy unless a series of events are detected, is all I can say.
In my case, perhaps the Ford Escort climbed on my bumper and as a result did not actuate the sensor behind the absorber. I think a 7G has to be detected (do not quote me).
I am still digging into it.
I know for a fact that when we start our car, the Airbag system goes through a check cycle and the airbag lights go off, meaning all sensors are a GO.

Seriously and I am not kidding, that's how I felt. That somebody was in the hospital. Jubilation when I checked her out yesterday. This is getting weird on how we treat our Sc's.

And unfortunately they managed (between wrecker and body shop) to scrape the car. It was on the rocker panel pass side, 1/8" bare plastic and 2 heavy scuff marks.
Touch up might do it. Not until I complain to the body shop though.
A lot of unknowns when the SC leaves your care.

time for a body kit and some upgrades! i am glad your safe and everything is ok. make sure you check out the frame and if it needs adjusting have the body shop do it at the lexus dealer.

Based solely on how the accident FELT, do you believe the airbag should have deployed? Did you hit the steering wheel or any other part of the car with your body?
Airbags can do harm, but the idea is they protect you from even more serious harm. If you don't need the extra protection, it is better that they don't deploy.
