Default is it possible to program an uncut valet key

Hi all,

I am trying to program my uncut valet key so that i can use the key's transponder to work with my luxlink. Has anyone done this before? The last programming process is to insert the unprogrammed key into the ignition, but it will not go in completely.

Pull the transponder out of a cut working key, and place it away from the car, and wire the cut key to the new uncut key. Put the cut key in the ignition. Go through the sequence for programming a new key. Then put the transponder back into the old key, now you have two transponders working and 1 key. Worked for me.

good thinking but valet key's transponder is sealed in the plastic covering unlike the master key.

You're right you can't take the valet key apart without detroying it, but you're not taking the valet key apart, you want that in the car, to be programmed. You're taking you're working (cut) key apart, and taking the transponder from the master key and place it away from the car. (Another part of the house) Now you attach the the cut key, minus the transponder, and the new valet key, that's uncut, together (wire tye or something) and use the cut key to place in the ignition, while you go throught the sequence of programming the the new uncut key. Hope this makes it clearer. Good luck with programming.

i did it, you just stick the uncut key in as far as it will go and program like regular. Thats what I did for my luxlink.

I tried SteadyEddy's strategy and it worked but I am pretty sure sticking it will also work. I couldn't programmed the key because i maxed out the number of keys programmed. If the key is programmed right, with cut or uncut, sticking it to the ignition will disarm the security, no red light.
