Default trunk wont open, tried everything

hey guys , i have a friends 04 sc430 with me , the trunk will not open and i cant put down the top either has the cover is in the off position , the trunk was opening before....

things ive checked valet switch , and i also pull the emergency cord on the center glove box, nothing ..., its almost as its stuck on the latch...the switch for the trunk release wont do anything , i know its good too since i have another lexus here i tried it in.

any help please thanks !!!!

If you haven't tried this, have someone hit the switch while someone pushes down on the trunk lid. I had this problem for a while on our 04, (intermittent problem) they finally fixed it with a new latch. It was still under warranty.

You probably already know that you press and hold the trunk button until you hear it pop, rather than just pressing and letting go right away. I know of at least one person who didn't know that and thought the release was broke. Just checking the obvious.
