Default Looking for tires. Not Run Flat

So my 2007 finally has 16k miles and it’s time to get rid of the kidney jarring RFTs.

I would welcome any suggestions for a new set. I don’t push it to the limit, drive in the snow or blast through puddles. I want something that holds the road and around corners, are a comfortable ride, and quiet. and not Run Flats.

I’m looking to spend about $250/tire unless you think that is unrealistic.

Located in the SF Bay Area.

Thanks to all your suggestions in advance,
Mark

Back in May of this year I switched out my RFTs and replaced them with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires and am thus far very happy with my purchase. After having them mounted and balanced, I had the wheels aligned and thus far there has been very even wear on all tires. I also don't push it to the limit, but in general the tires seem soft, quiet and grip well. Being a former resident of the Bay Area, these tires are also known to have very good traction in the rain, so that may be something for you to consider. They also have 45,000 mile warranty that may come in handy, should these tires not tires make that mileage mark. My experience with Michelin's customer service to date has been excellent, especially if a tire does not perform up to expectations or does not meet warranty standards. These tires are also right at or very near your targeted price point.

There are several other threads that discuss conventional replacement tires recommending other brands of tires that you may also be interested in.

$250 a tire should get you excellent tires. If it doesn't snow where you're located, try Michelin Super Sport.

+1 on the Michelin Pilot A/S.

We put those on to replace the original Dunlop runflats.

The Pilots ride nicer, are cheaper to buy, repairable, and they last at least twice as long.

Hankook Ventus V12s are less and pretty good but if you got money to burn the Michelin Pilots are excellent

I decided to go with the Michelin Pilot A/S +. Getting them installed this Friday. Out the door cost for all 4 will be $1079 less the rebate of $70

Hi Mark,

I haven't been on this forum for very long but my observation is that a good number of us have gone to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires; I did & am very satisfied. My totally unscientific observation is that the Michelins are the most popular with us on this forum.

Others may have different opinions,

I was able to have them installed yesterday and all I can say is that the difference is amazing! It feels like a completely different car, all in a good way. I wish I did this a long time ago. Now I just need to get a emergency kit for a blown tire. Any suggestions on that item?

The Hankook v12's sounds appealing.

I best emergency kit I found was the F sport/ISF kit from lexus. fits the side trunk wells perfectly. Have not used them. supposed to be TPMS safe.

yea i think its basically the same thing, ive just instructed wifey to call me should the sensors go off and stop driving. My IS250 spare fits the sc430 so i could always just bring it by if i really needed to, oh and AAA helps.
