Default Unwilling new year top speed test

Ironic. Last week I made joke about the car shaking over 130. Yesterday I let a friend who is an admittedly good driver run us around town in the Bastard Celebrating my friends status as a first time father to be, I gave him a break from driving his 9 year old Saturn. We had a great day, 74 degrees, driving from Sunrise Florida to the infamous South Beach, top down, life is good. I was going to post some pics of my sunburned noggin to tease you guys snowed in, but nah.

On the way home, without permission he decides to open lucky up. My top speed is 90 top down, and 110 with the roof up on factory wheels. I love the look of my 20s but over 90 it just does not feel right, a little twitchy, so I don't push top end. Well my buddy, prince not so bright pushes lucky 120 top down around a wide bend (for you locals I75 N off 826). I figure adding mph of running 20s over 18s we were well over 130.

Well at least I can post a review. Can't say much for sound, interior, top down at that speed has a lot of wind noise. Like sitting in front of a hurricane fan. Add in me screaming like a girl to slow the F! Down. The car did not vibrate but the Gs in the turn were not pleasant, my stomach dropped. Weaving through light traffic at that speed, not a problem, lucky remained sure footed. Overall experience terror.

I know a lot of you car guys have sampled super cars and 130 is not really that fast, but with the top down on a curve, it felt like 200.

New Years resolution no one drives lucky but me!

LOL, sounds like you had quite the experience. At least he didn't push Lucky to its limits of 150+ mph.

I love adrenaline rushes, try 130 on a motorcycle. The first time I did that I didn't have the face shield on my full face helmet, only sunglasses. My eyes teared up so badly I couldn't see much, had to back it down. Now I always wear the face shield. It was warm enough today that both my wife and I were out riding for about 3 hours (she has her own bike). I'm a SC newbie, so I've only had the top down a few times for relatively short rides so far. Looking forward to many great top-down motoring trips.

Lets see --- New Father to be, high speed in trafic in metropolitan area, not his car, ?? gosh, why didn't you stop and let him have a hit on the crack pipe??

Not much of a friend I would say. This guy is so responsible he will be lucky to have a Saturn to drive.

What a friend lol

I did 130mph with the roof down/windows up this summer and didn't think the noise was too bad compared to other verts I've been in. The steering started to feel a little light so I backed off, but it was fun.

Great way to get rid of any gum wrappers in the door pockets as well!

It pays to keep a couple of your sizes (depends) in the glove compartment. LOL!

I might even keep a couple for "guests" as I occasionally like to step on it a little bit harder than normal...

Depends have served a lot of people well.

When people lined up on Black Friday, guess what they were wearing?

As you said, when you let somebody else drive the SC, might as well put on your depends!

At 42 I can count friends I have had for 30 years on one hand. It gets to a point you will forgive anything.

Classic line. The experience makes for a good story...but yikes.
