Agreed, stock looks horrible and the noise from the antenna motor ...Lexus should've known better. I have a stubby on mine now, but it's only for decoration. I needed something to screw it into, and I think the Celica sub may be the answer. Anyways, heres a pic, I painted the decorative nut black too. I can't wait to see your results:

Thx redliner8!

This is the actual antenna for Mercedes Benz SL, so it is real & functional.

It's been said before it won't be plug & play. The hole on the SC is too large, you'll need to close the hole a bit to fit this antenna; and then a paint job on that area.

It all depend on how much trouble you willing to take for such little mod. Personally, I just love it. I'll do it again if I have to.

Thanks for the close up pic and explanation. I like the angle you put on it too, for such a little mod it really does change the look of the car. Plus, I didn't like having the car behind me know when I change radio stations by seeing the antenna move up and down haha.

And when I am changing CD's the freeking antenna goes up, after I select the CD, it goes down.

There was a way to stop the antenna to stop going up when the FM-AM are not selected. I have to go back to that thread...things you know about the SC.

I have looked at schematics but it is hard to figure out. Hence an actual pic will be needed.

Picture of the whole assembly with s2000 conversion installed on a 2000 Celica

Actual antenna assembly from 2000 Celica. Please notice where I broke off the original antenna. I will have to drill it out before I am able to screw in the s2000 antenna.

As you can see in the pic below, I broke off the old antenna screw end inside.. Any ideas how to get it out??

Next to the original SC430. The Silver nut is the same size. However the angle might not allow the part to screw the s2000 antenna reach high enough over the original sleeve.

Here is a pic with celica sleeve off.

The cylinder might have to be cut short

Looking at this picture. It does not look like the SC has the rubber piece at the top

Ok so has it been decided that the only way to stop the antenna from moving up and down is disconnecting at the mast under the trunk liner?

I have an aftermarket deck and have no desire to ever listen to the radio. I don't need to convert it or remove it I'd just like to make it stay down.

Hello, I'm fairly new to the whole posting thing. Did you already start the threat about how to do the antenna mod?

The antenna in my 2002 SC430 has finally stopped working well (gets stuck, needs a push, motor keeps making grinding sound, etc).

I wish there was a way to disconnect the power from the antenna without having to tear up the trunk liner. I have no desire to replace the antenna, I just want to keep it all the way down.

Has anyone found a way to keep the antenna down, without taking apart the trunk?

Thank you!

If you can find the Power Antenna Fuse, you can yank it out.
