Default 9500CI install

9500CI install-photo.jpgI thought some of you might enjoy seeing a good use for the coin tray and where I had the display for my new 9500CI placed.

Good use of the coin tray. Any more pix? What's the deal with the dash?

Unfortunately, around here they use "instant on" laser. No detector in the universe can beat that.

Coincidentally, I was reading about laser jammers today. Unfortunately, when they work, the laser unit will display a jam code and the officer pulls you over anyway. Jammers are illegal around here and subject to confiscation plus a fine/court costs.

I've given up and admitted defeat, so I just drive 9 MPH over all the time.

If you look on the lower right part of the dash, you will see the display. This is a shifter rather than a jammer. It just redirects the laser. They are supposedly legal but I am sure the police would find something to give you a ticket over if they notice. Passport says this is totally undetectable.

I saw it and was wondering if you cut the dash, which is what it looks like from the picture. How much space is available in that area? Do you have any pix from the install?

The Guys of Lidar do extensive unbiased testing and ratiting of all radar detectors and jammers. If the police in your area don't use instant on (which I call "instant toast"), it is a great source for info.

Where I live, a shifter is illegal. Virignia prohibits "any device or mechanism, passive or active, to detect or purposefully interfere with or diminish the measurement capabilities of any radar, laser, or other device or mechanism employed by law-enforcement."

Car Toys did the work. They did cut a hole. They offered to surface mount it or cut the hole. I thought it would look better that way. As for the space, I did not look. I did find out how to remove the plastic part surrounding the instrument cluster. You just grab and pull it straight out.

Unsub- Thanks for the pic/idea for the display unit. Are you able to see the display behind the wiper control arm? I was thinking about integrating it into the mirror. Do you have any pics of the front shifters installed? Thanks!

Yes, I can see the display fine but the location might not work as well for others, depending on their height. I don't have pictures of the shifters but will try to take some when I return home in 2 weeks. I think the mirror idea is a good one too. I tried to put mine in the line of sight and where I could focus the best with my bifocals.
