Most Random SC430 Shout-Out
I've had my fair share of "Nice car", "Nice day for a convertible", or "Does it really only get 14 miles per gallon?" (My vanity plates read "14MPG" - It's a joke, son). I've somewhat come to expect it.
Today was different though.
I'm sitting at a light in traffic, stereo turned up. I hear an "Excuse me" from my right side. I turn the stereo off and look over.
There's a DC Metro bus next to me. The driver has his side window open and is hanging his head out.
I look over at him and he asks "Do you still run the run-flat tires on that?"
What an insightful question! Obviously an owner...or someone who's done A LOT of research on this particular car.
I told him "No, we got rid of them a long time ago."
He asked "Did you notice a difference when you switched?". I told him "It was instant!"
The light turned green, we drove away.
Man, didn't expect that!

A bus driver and SC enthusiast....that's America my friend, gotta love it. There's a fellow who has probably worked hard his entire life. He knows a great car too. Maybe, like me, he didn't spend a fortune on a new one, but picked one up cause they are that much fun to drive. And, of course, there isn't anything wrong with reliability either!
While I've heard the "nice car", "great car" comments too, it's the head turns I notice. The non-verbal comment tells it all.

Every Friday I pick the kids up at school and the ritual is I put the top down as they get in at the carpool lane. The 200+ kids watching the show never seem to tire of it and cheer LB on. I get chants like go transformer go! I just hope my wife never finds out how some of the young Moms look at us. Guilty pleasure.

Wonder if it was the same Metrobus driver -- I had one open his window, pop his head out, and say, "Wanna swap rides?" I laughed and said, "Yours is worth more." He seemed to get a kick out of that.

Couple highlights
Aside from the very frequent 'can I have your car' variations, a couple of my favorites were
-Bus Driver (common theme?); two different ones have opened their windows to ask me if I 'want to race', and many have of course expressed their appreciation with nods and thumbs up.
-Random driver; after letting out shouts of appreciation (unintelligible), he followed it up with 'how high does your thermometer go?'
It took me a few tries to understand the words, and then realize he meant the speedometer.
It is pretty fun to see how many heads get turned by this car.
At my lakeplace, there probably isn't another one of these within 50 miles. People are often amazed to see it parked on top of my cave house.

The SC430 have very stylish lines, it will always looks beautiful and stylish. Just like the NSX and all the old Ferrari, they can be 20~30 years old, but still look like a very fancy stylish car.
This is why I plan to keep my SC430 for many many years, until the earth runs out of oil
