Default 2003 Sc430

Anybody have info on the next model year SC430? Specifically are they going to do anything about those hiddeous wheels? Will they alter the interior availability so that you can get ecru interior with dark wood trim instead of the blonde wood? Any interesting new colors? etc...

Y'know, ceboyd ... I agree with you.

I've been trying to hate these wheels months before I got my car when some mag reviewer called them "manhole covers". But I really don't have a problem with them. Tires, yes. But wheels? No.

I do like the fact that they cover all that mechanical stuff underneath.

Here Here!

My sentiments exactly! (Were you reading my mind?)

I convinced myself I hated the wheels before I bought the car, but now I'd have to say I don't have a problem with them. I don't care for the brakes to show through the wheels either. If I did get after market wheels, I would want them to be relatively solid in the center.

Here's my negative comments/questions on the wheels after owning the car for a week and a half:

1. Why is the center so plasticy? Is this some sort of metal covered plastic?
2. Why do I hear these creaking noises from the wheels when the top is down and I'm pulling in my driveway? (I think it's because of comment #1, I assume the plastic is flexing, and maybe rubbing, against other parts of the wheel.
3. Why did Lexus make the center cover a separate part of the wheel? To reduce cost?

My two cents.

Robert

Robert ...

I have an answer only to:

"2. Why do I hear these creaking noises from the wheels when the top is down and I'm pulling in my driveway?"

Your audio is not loud enough.

Default Wheel covers

the stock wheels look like cheap wheel covers to me. They might be appropriate for the LS 430 but they are certainly not attractive enough for the sporty top of the line image car the sc430 should be. The car is also missing metal pedals like the IS 300 - the plastic accelerator pedal and the rubber brake pedal don't do it for me. Where are the rain sensing wipers like the LS 430?

Hey I fully agree - who else has Anything like them out there?

EVERYONE seems to be sporting these Polished Crome Multiple-Spoke Mod Wheels, that after while, inspite of the Big Bucks a guy can drop to be an "Also Ran", your "Sport Wheels" just seem to blend into the landscape.

The OEM SC 430 Wheels are truly a Unique Syling Statement. I further Enhanced mine with Gold-plating the "L" in the Center Hub, and replacing all Ten of the Rivets with Gold Plated Ones that really stand out against the Light-Grey / Silver background of the Wheel.

"Understated Elegance" - and FORD brags about having "NO BOUNDERIES!".

Default OEM

To each his (or her) own. I still can't get used to the look of the OEM wheels. It looks like hubcaps.

Took delivery of my Red/Ecru last week and had the stock rims chromed and they looked great in person. It was worth every penny for the chroming, makes the car and rims look ten times better.

Pothead- possibly as a dentist with hopefully seven cavities in his head- look up the definition- but no decay of the brain- I could be more sensitive to getting water sprayed in my face then other people. If the SC430 is the premium car of the lineup it should have ALL the premium electronics included. That would be my definition of premium. As for the esthetic taste of those ugly wheel covers it takes all kinds but as my other business is an art gallery I am confident of my TASTE as for Solomon with his gold rivets- that sure does sound classy here in Jersey -you will fit right in in Camden & Newark
