Default 2002 SC430 GPS/NAV overrride

I will appreciate if anyone can help me out with the GPS/NAV by pass / override by accessing the hidden service menu, for a Lexus SC 430 year 2002, I tried with procedure 3 (Volume button) and 5 (DVD button) but unfortunately does not work, I cannot get the service menu.

Step 1 Press The Menu button
Step 2 Press the DVD button
Step 3 Press The Upper Left of the screen
Step 4 Press The Lower Left of the screen
Step 5 Press Upper Left of the screen again
Step 6 Press Lower Left of the screen again
Step 7 Press The Lower Right of the screen
Step 8 Press and hold the Override Button until system beeps
Step 9 Press Back Button in upper right corner

What Version are you running?

I know the override function doesn't work in 1.0.

If you're running a newer version...where does it "not work"? If you do "Menu", "DVD", "Up, down, up, down, right"...does the secret menu pop up?

Also, you can do this secret button-sequence from the language screen.

Thank you Bon, VVTiBob and Habious. I tried with all your indications but I can not get the secret menu pop up.
I do not have the option after menu, I tried the DVD button and the Volume button after MENU + the sequence, "up, down, up, down, right", also from the language screen.
May be I am doing something wrong, but it looks pretty easy if works, or could be the case like Habious said does not work for version 1.0.
The DVD version I have is data '07-08 Ver1 West (Europe).
Any new idea ???

I re read my instructions and noticed I left out one step

Press menu
then press system option
when the option screen appears
touch the top left corner of the screen,
bottom left corner
top left corner
bottom left corner
Finally the bottom right corner

that opens the new screen but that's on the U.S. version.

If it is a 2007/08 version, it might be the equivalent of version 7 or 8 US, which means that the mechanics' by-pass is no longer available. (I forget which version they cut that out in.)

Thank you VVTiBob, my NAV does not have system option after menu, I guest you should have Gen 3 or 4, mine should be Gen 2.

For those of us who are behind the curve, what is the significance of overriding the GPS/NAV system.. why would this need to be done?
Thanks.

overriding allows you to enter data while in motion. If you watch your GPS it grays out functionality when the car is moving faster than just a couple of miles per hour.

It's not a permanent change. You'll have to go through the steps above to see if you can access the menu. But each time you shut off the car it resets and you have to do the steps again. I believe some here have said Lexus changed, that is removed this option in later versions.

ASKaty, what version is your DVD? (There is an option in the menu to bring that up.) If it is a later version, the "entry while moving" option was removed.

I bought the upgrade map disc in November 2009. My guess then is I will not be able to use the option..

Thanks Harold.

It's not the disc, because I have the newest version 9.01 disc in my 02. It's part of the firmware in the hardware. Try in go though the steps above to see if you get the "system option" menu selection.
