Yes, I have to brag on Katy and her Jade...it was so smooth and beautiful on that nice spring day in Scottsdale when I saw her after she had been clayed, I knew I had to do it too.
The clay bar doesn't really remove any fine scratches. I am going to get some Scratch-X for that. I did a quick cleaner wax, but will go back with the Gold Class wax and rub the hell out of some finer scratches. As you all know, black shows everything, so there are a fair amount...GREAT THING about the black diamond pearl on the 05 Pebble Beach is that there is a buffet of colors in the paint...black, silver, blue, green...it really is "pearly" so the scratches don't show up as much as they do on my 09 FX35 in Black.
Thanks for the kind words. I totally recommend the Meguires Clay Bar System.
Here is what I did:
Thorough wash with Meguires advanced... ($5.00 plus free microfiber polishing cloth!)
Meguires Cleaner Wax-included in Clay Bar Kit
Molded clay in hand and wiped all surfaces down. don't "scrub" or go in circular motions, it gives you the instructions and I followed.
Then I followed up with the Meguires Gold Glass Ultimate Detailer to remove any streaks or clay debris left behind-which was not much, I was surprised. Meguires is the BEST!
What I believe it truly does is makes your paint look and feel silky smooth and picks up some of the finer road debris, corrosion that might be on your clearcoat.
Only took me 1.5 hours total...wash, wax, clay bar and quick detail.
Now, here is what Megiars says: http://www.meguiars.com/tips/article...selected_ID=10
4. Clay bars should only be used by professionals.
If you have ever played with Silly Putty, you can use clay. Mold a non-abrasive, synthetic clay bar into a pancake-looking wafer. Working on a washed and dried car, simply rub the clay bar back and forth over the surfaces using a mist and wipe detailer for lubrication. The bar will grab and gently remove all bonded contaminants, leaving the surface as smooth as glass. Meguiar's Quik Clay Detailing System includes everything that you need. No experience necessary!
5. Waxing can remove swirl marks.
Unfortunately, applying car wax over swirl marks does not remove them. The only way to remove a scratch from a paint finish is to reduce the thickness of the paint finish down to the bottom of the scratch. Micro-fine, hairline scratches can often be removed by hand using a non-abrasive paint cleaner, or ScratchX™, Meguiar's scratch and swirl remover. Moderate scratches may require an electric dual action polisher, and deeper swirl marks caused by the improper use of rotary buffers and rubbing compounds may well require professional color sanding and buffing.

Nice job SC. Someday I'll have to find the time to do the same.
