While I'm waiting for my sub to be swapped out (previously Earthquake SWS-8, probably gonna be a Fosgate P1 next).
I finally talked myself into changing out the ML 6x9s in my doors.

Can anyone suggest any 6.5 woofers that have great bang for buck?
There's a heavy selection at http//www.parts-express.com

Gotta consider the 3" +/- mounting depth, 8-ohm impedence (if you're using the ML amp), and as well as the frequency response range.

I just ordered a pair of adapters from this site for about $15.

Thx guys.

If they're not too deep, get some Dynaudios. 2nd choice would be Focals. then maybe Boston Acoustic Pro series (if they still make them) But nothing touches the Dynaudios.

Here's one of the best write-ups ever on replacing speakers. Hope it helps!

Thx PHXSC,
but I've already read this write-up.

Unfortunately, ZGone doesn't provide a parameter of specs that you should look for when selecting your speaker replacements.

I dug around for another thread I remembered reading, but couldn't find it, as it was a while ago.
Someone found the correct impedance speaker - not car audio, but home speakers, and modified the mounting to fit.
The speaker also fit the 3" depth limitation.

Definitely caught that part.
Any other recommended specs?
Freq response range?
Xmax?
Etc..

I used these. They are outstanding. Discontinued but check the specs

Also check this link to the whole story and directions etc. Don't skimp! Put the EDead in for sound in the doors and back of seats in rear if you do the drivers and sub in rear.

I did the fronts in May of '09 and the rear over Christmas.

Worth every penny and minute I spent doing it!

are you changing the deck and the amplifier or just the speakers? Because i recently replaced my subwoofer behind the back seat and i had to find a 10" with 16 ohms. Every car audio place i went to told me that i had to replace with with a 16 ohm speaker otherwise the factory amp would burn because of the power distribution.

This setup looks awesome, i'd like to do something like this

Most would just hook up a 4-Ohm with an additional amp.
I had my RF R500-1 tucked in the spare tire kit,
completely hidden.

May sound silly, but how do you mount your spare tire now?

No spare tire.

I think I'll go with some Dayton 6.5" woofers as well as some Dayton 3" full range speakers.

Any opinions anyone?
