Pretty cool huh?
Lexus SC430 with LCD Windows which can go from clear to opaque at a switch of a button at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2009.

it would be pretty expensive. the lcd film is sandwiched between two layers of glass. you'd probably have a hard time finding anyone capable of doing it. it's also not very practical. people can't see in. but you can't see out either. kind of annoying when you're trying to drive.

This would be bad-azz tied to the keyless entry. When the car is off and locked, the windows are opaque. You press the unlock button on the fob and the car...
- Unlocks
- Windows go from opaque to clear
- Interior lights come on.

Actually, when the title said "LCD Windows", I thought they could display images.
If you've tailgated lately I'm sure you've seen elaborate rigs with satellite TV, etc.
Imagine being able to display a video signal on the windows, and the audio signal on the car stereo. That would get be the baddest rig in the tailgating lot!
Or, if your cruising down the highway, you could play the latest Paris Hilton video

That technology has been around for a few years, and has been used in office doors, conference room windows, and for glass bathroom walls and doors. I've never seen it used in a car, and for the reasons mentioned above, I don't know why you would want to spend the money for it in a car, since the opportunities to use it are fairly rare.
Still, it is a cool touch.

they use them in fittings room at aeropostale. Its cool because you can see if there are clothes left in the dressing rooms, but as soon as someone locks the door it turns opaque. Was talking to the manager and she said the pane of glass for the door costs 10k. pretty expensive, especially to have it fitted to a car.

the first time i saw it was in a suite at the palms. there was a shower with a stripper pole. and a glass wall that was open to the living room. flip the switch and it goes opaque. but by the time you have a stripper pole in your shower, i don't see why you'd want to use it.
