Default Ideal setting of air / ac when crusing w top down?

Since you can't technically shut the air off I wanted to know what the optimal setting for the AC was when using the SC with the top down in terms of best MPG...thanks!

The optimal setting in Phoenix, and I would guess Florida, too, is 52

^haha yea right now...but I was thinking for days when the AC is really not needed (and to conserve on gas) because even when its "off" it still blows some air...

You can turn it completely off (no blow air). Check out this thread:

Climate Control off doesnt mean off

for the solution in post #2 and #3 involving the air circulation button (even has pictures!)

I suspect that all cars allow air circulation even if the car is off, partly for safety. That air flow may just be the air system allowing air to pass through but without a fan, though I'm not sure since I haven't really investigated it (too lazy). (Yes, I too have noticed it and it is annoying.) Heavyfoot had the right answer though. Just set the temperature low enough before you turn it off so that the air path won't include heating.
