Default MAS sensor?

I just ordered a K&N permanent air filter and they say you need to clean the sensors to keep the oil cleaned out. What is that? Tell me about the oiling of the filter? Thanks

That thread indicated there was a possibilty of oil from the filters clogging the MAS.

I used one in my SC until I sold it last month. It was in service for over a year with no problems. The only difference was improved gas mileage.

I also use one in my IS250, ES300 and Hyundai SantaFe's(the kids cars) all have the same results.

I called a contact at Lexus Customer Satisfaction last week asking about this question. He checked into it and informed me that Toyota uses the K&Ns for racing and has no contraindication for their use.

I suspect the problem might occur in situations where they are cleaned and reoiled, if too much oil is used. I am starting to think that instead of cleaning and reoiling I will just toss and replace since they come properly pre-oiled and the $40-$50 expense every 20K miles is not too much of an expense

+ 1....used a K&N in my SC for three years with no problems...only 5k miles though lol

I have also used them in my infiniti cars, rx-7's, supras, etc. never heard of the mas being a problem.

I did buy a new one becuase it was dirty and I was too lazy to clean it! It does come oiled enough. IMHO I wouldn't do anything, just drop and go and enjoy the better 2-4mpg and maybe slightly more torque.

I couldn't really tell a difference...kind of like detailing your car and it seems faster???
