Default 2005 PB Edition Black on Red Deal? Good?

2005 PB Black on Red (of course) 72k miles (high, but wait for the price)...$20,990, and they said they would let it go for about $18-$19k plus TTL, shipping etc.

I know it's high miles, but other than the NM edition, this car to me has got to be one of the sharpest combinations and rarest of all special edition SC's.

I'd say it's a heck of a deal. I nearly bought on '05 PB edition for $26,900 out of Houston and I thought THAT was a great price. It had 1/3rd the mileage of this car you are talking about, but for $8,000 less, I'd say it would be a great deal. Just make sure it hasn't been wrecked and that's the reason it's so cheap. I've seen people asking nearly $40,000 for the '05 PB edition and I laugh to myself when I see that price because they are never going to get it.

I've found that the cars with the red interior don't sell as well as you would think. A lot of people flat out can't stand them and it's the LAST thing they would choose. When you couple the relatively high price for a 4 year old car with the red leather, it becomes an albatross for the dealers and they really have a tough time getting rid of them.....UNLESS that one person who loves the red leather comes along.

You and I love the red leather, but I think we are definitely in the minority.

This is kind of off topic, but I just discovered some information about the 2007 PB edition that I always wondered about.

I always wondered if the '07 PB edition had the red engine cover and red pull handle for the screen in the trunk....like the '02 Neiman Marcus and '05 PB editions do. Well, the answer is NO, they don't. I just saw some pictures of a white '07 PB edition with red leather, and it had the standard black engine cover and a black pull handle in the trunk.

I believe I've seen both black and red floor mats for the '07 PB edition. I'm not sure which color it came with, but I believe it was black mats with red stitching for the PB insignia.

You're correct, it came with black mats.

GET IT!!!! Crap, I'm jealous now. Haha. What a deal! Just make sure you do all the maintenance and get the car up to date mechanically. Mileage doesn't matter that much to me, as long as we maintain them I'm sure they'll go a looooonnnngggg way.

Side Note: I read in a consumer magazine that the SC430 is one of the most worry-free cars mechanically. I think it was something like 72 problems reported out of 100 cars, which is really good compared to the avg. which I think is around 200 for every 100.

Just my two cents

I've been drooling over this car the last few days...you're deal seems a little too good make sure the dealer is disclosing all the details about the car...

I am looking at at PB 2005 with 80k miles in Mass for $20k or so at a wholesaler, but getting a hard time communicating with them and the history is a little spotty.

Regarding this one at Performance Lexus in OH, it's been well maintained at the dealer which is HUGE for me. In summary, 30k, 60k + battery recently, brakes all the way around (recently too) AND IT WAS A CPO CAR! This usually means it was pampered.

here is the maint history:

i think this 2005 PB with the miles should be no more than $25k. I would get it for that!

25 would probably be a fair price for it. I had a chance to get one for $27,900 that only had 29,000 miles on it and I passed it up. I could kick myself.

this is one of those TALE OF TWO CARS...where one is suspect on it's history, maint, seller, etc. The other at a reputable Lexus dealer with full service history at the dealer, condition slightly better, miles about the same but for $5k more!

Million dollar question---is it worth $5k more? What if the other car for $20k is a beater? What if it has not been maintained well? What if it's been in a wreck? No carfax on it.

But...what if the cheaper car is truly a STEAL and has been maint well?

Lots to ponder! DAMNIT I wish these cars were local!!!! I've only seen a couple of PB Editions period (and we have a ****load of SC's around in Dallas, trust me) in town and only one of the 2005 model.
