Default question about oil and oil filter

getting my first oil change on my SC.

the previous owner used mobil 1 synthetic 5w30.
should i stick with that oil brand and grade?

whats size OEM oil filter is for the sc430?
is it the 90915-YZZD3 ??

how much do those usually run? i can get like a pack of 10 OEM for $40. is that a good deal?

also for the mobil 1 synthetic... where should i buy from for the best price? how much does a total of 6 quarts usually cost?

my mechanic will charge me 20 labor (im okay with that).. and the rest of the parts are on me...
How much do you guys usually pay for a synthetic oil change total out the door?

filter is the correct one,

costco sells a case of mobil 1 for somewhere around 33 bucks.

20 bucks sounds good

am using a LEXUS Oil that is sold only in the dealer shop, it is synthetic and can run 10.000KM = Approximately 6500 Mils and it costs 50$. the Oil brand is LEXUS and the dealer says it is especially designed for lexus cars.

does any body knows how many gallons\liters of Oil does the SC430 engine takes when changing the Oil with filter??

Per the owner’s manual;

Oil capacity

With filter 5.2L, 5.5qt
Without filter 4.6L, 4.9qt

From what I know, Lexus does not produce motor oil, or oil of any kind. Now your dealer might buy oil from a 3rd party and just re-bottle it, and call it LEXUS oil.

That being said I doubt their using the best or anywhere near the best quality of oil available in the market

Stick with the Mobil 1, I've used it for twenty years, absolutely no problems. I change the oil every 5,000 miles. 33 dollars/case at costco

so 5w30 sounds right for the sc430?
whats the difference between 10w30 and 5w30.
i live in los angeles (if weather/climate has an effect on it).

should i stick to the 5w30 b/c the previous owner used that (he only did 1 oil change in the time he owned the car ... the car has only 8K on it now) or switch to 10w30??

Hey Guys&Gals, Just wondering what you call a case of oil. To most people a case would be 24 a short case would be 12 now if Im not mistaken a case at costco has 4 bottles of oil in it. Walmart, which I only buy OIL at, has 5 quart containers around 25 bucks, I think they have the beat deal and its more convient with the larger contanier.

Sorry, the case that Costco sells has (6) Mobil 1 synthetic bottles in it.

I would stick with 5w 30, since the car is new and LA has a relatively mild climate.
Plus its suppose to give you better mpg over a 10 weight oil

Did you say you have a good mechanic in LA? I'm in the SF Valley and looking for a good mechanic for this car.
