I am trying to determine if my new (to me) 2003 sc430 ML sound system is capable of playing CD's containing MP3 files. They play great on my 2007 RX radio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

nop, not possible. mp3 cd playback capability wasn't there until recent new lexus models

Would be a shame to play lossy MP3's in this high-end sound system

I don't know about the current year SC, but the 02 model ML I have is definitely not high-end. SQ is just not there...

It's a difficult proposition, at best, to make a sound system work properly in the SC's cockpit. I, too, had an '02 but was happy with the sound quality. My '06 GS had a better sounding system (and larger cockpit volume) and the current '08 IS-F is better yet.
