Johhnycake started this great post and I re-discovered it. Was searching the CL for something on headlights and ran across this thread. Thought I would add my "ah-ha's" to this:

1) 2002-2005 cars can be more fun by c-gate shifting which you move the shift **** all the way to the bottom right in L-then-2-up to 3-up to 4, then over to D Much fun!

2) The little silver button on the middle console is a coin tray that pops up!

3) If you hold down the unlock buttons the windows roll down!!!

4) Cell phone Charger in middle console

5) Valet lock in center console is great for top down parking at starbucks!

Just my top five discoveries! This is a GREAT post.

i just saw that the GPS saves your recent destinations. which is nice. it usually takes a few times before i remember how to get anywhere.

I hate that feature. It's suppose to compensate for road noise, yet it "appears" to get louder. So it doesn't work properly because it should appear to remain the same preceived level. I'd rather just adjust the volume manually.

Is that the ASL feature?

I also noticed that when the top goes down, an extra amp or more power to the amp kicks in and songs with deep bass (I like R&B music) rattle the speakers/trim/interior more and you have to adjust. Not sure what this has to do (if at all) with the ASL but it definitely happens when the top goes down.

That would be AN AWESOME mod if someone added headrest speakers to our SC's!!!

I was thinking that the volume boost was a C-Best setting but I didn't see it when I quickly scanned it a few minutes ago. Maybe there is another setting somewhere that you can change to disable it.

ASL is an independent setting on the stereo. Press the right-side big button to scroll through Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader and ASL. It's either "On" or "Off".

Seperate from that, they stereo automatically makes some adjustments based on if the top is up or down...and this (as far as I know) can't be overridden. Basically, it boosts the high-end a bit to compensate for wind noise, and it disables the "artificial surround sound" effect from the rear speakers...when the top is down.

Personally, I like ASL when the top is down, and don't when the top is up. Unfortuately, I have to manually switch this setting every time I put the top up/down. A little annoying.

A more useless post.

1. If you start driving while putting the top up, it just freezes where it is.

2. If you set the seats memory all the way to the back, and put groceries on the floor, there is no sensor to stop it from crushing your food.

3. You can fit a seven and eight year old in the back seats if you are 5'9 and under.

4. You can out accelerate a new RX8.

6. You can fit a small pair of sunglasses across the ash tray, lighter in the dash.

7. I am not sure how it works, but when you put the top down, women smile at you.

Good stuff KaiserSea1

I forgot about the moving in reverse and forward with the top functioning. I believe it's 5 MPH, isn't it? Good one!

I don't get this very often but, whenever my wife drives the car, she ALWAYS gets hit on.

It's nice to know my car is a "man magnet". Great.

I've always been doing this with my nicer cars (walking extreme distances from the parked car).

What i haven't figured out is how to deal with explaining this to the girls I've been dating. Some are understandable, but not all are. Even though I always offer to drop them off right at the entrance to wherever we're going to.

"so I dont get my door dented or paint scratched"
"you're just worrying / that wont happen / blah blah blah"
"Ok. Next time you pick me up and you drive"
