Default blown front speakers

My front door speakers are rattling. Instead of spending tons of money for replacement, i am thinking about refoaming it using the kit from http://speakerex.com/refoam_kits.html
Has anyone done this? Is this hard? Also there are three 6x9 kits in the website does anyone know which one fits our SC430? Mine is 03 model btw.

thanks in advance.

I called them. Dale said he charges $100 + tax per speaker if i take them out of my car and bring it to them. So it will cost me about $216 for a pair. I did ask him why he charges so much more than others. He said some thing about "it is a dying art." I am not sure that justifies the price. I guess I will use speaker doctor instead.

Repair them with silicone. Take them apart and silicone both sides where the foam is. Let dry over night. Put them back in and crank it up. Did my 02 a couple of months ago. Cheap fix. Doesn't sound any different. Don't pay for refoaming.
Cost of silicone $5. Save over 200 dollars. Use it to go out to a really nice dinner or about three tanks of fuel.

Talking Yes You Can.

I had a similar problem with my home theater speakers.
I have a massive A/V setup in my home. I have a 7.1 speaker
system with tower speakers. These speakers retailed for appx
10,000.00 in 1996. Each speaker has 4 low midrange and 2 upper
midrange drivers. Some of the rear and side surrounds only have a
total of 2 mids each.
The foam surrounds would crumble at the slightest touch.
I contemplated replacing all the speakers. But with the economy
the way it is, I looked into repair. I found this guy on ebay
http://myworld.ebay.com/geoaliwil/
He lives in the town next to me so it was convenient for me to
go by his shop. He was extremely knowledgeable. He was also very
helpful. After watching him repair a speaker, I decided to try it
myself. I ended up refoaming 28 drivers (my woofers and tweeters
were still OK so I just needed to refoam my midranges).
I took my time and it took appx 1 hour per driver. (By the time I
finished I did not want to see a SPEAKER for several days. I was
tired!). Anyway, I was pleased with the results. If you get up close
you can tell they were repaired but from 2+ feet away, you cannot tell.
With car speakers you will not be concerned with appearance.
The sound is just like new! Make sure you follow his instructions
to the letter. You must cut off the center dust cover to shim the
voicecoil. DO NOT try to refoam without shimming. The tolerances
are very close and just a tad off center and your repaired speaker
will sound terrible.
Sorry for the long response but I encourage anyone that is half way
handy with repairing "things" to try this.
Send George an email. Just my .02.
God Bless,
Brian
