I noticed Ebay has nav disk for the upgrades. Has anyone tried these and if so how difficult is it to install? cost is well under what dealer wants. I have an 03 SC430 and would like to upgrade nav system.

It's very easy. All you have to do is eject the old disk and insert the new one. If you buy it off ebay be careful to make sure you get the correct version. Different model years and different models use different disks.

I have noticed that the new 8.1 (I think that is the number)disk is coming out and is under pre-order at Sewell (a Forum Sponsor) and a few other places. More $ than eBay, but it is a new disc with the newest software and updated maps. I am going to order the newest one for my LS.

Good to hear that, sounds like a novice like me can do it myself. I kind of skeptical when the dealer told me that it is a half an hour job and they need to reset something after putting in the new disc.
