Smoothest riding tires
I've been test driving a bunch of used SC430's over the last few weeks and none of them drive as smooth as my IS300 (which is older and has more milage).
I'm starting to believe it's due to the SC having those run-flat tires. But some of the SC's I've driven had non-run flat tires and it's still not as smooth as the IS is (especially at higher speeds).
So, is it the tires that makes the SC feel like it's vibrating all over the place? If so, what are some of the tires you guys are using that give it a smoother ride? I'm more concerned about the smoother ride than handling. Longevity and price is a major concern too. I think the SC is such as nicer car than the IS, but I will not bring myself to purchase a car that cost twice as much for a rougher ride. Please help

By far the quietest tire I have ever owned, also got over 40k out of my last set on my '03 SC. Just put a brand new set on my '06.

Although I went for the ContiExtremeContact for the additional snow performance (plus they are $54.00 less per tyre).
Compare the ProContact to the ExtremeContact at this link:

Non runflat tires can be broken down to the following catagories:
1. summer tires: These tires handle great have a short tread life and the ride is somewhat rough however better than the runflats.
2. Ultra high performance all season: These tires handle very good, have long tread life and give a good ride compaired to summer tires.
3. Touring tires: These tires do not handle as well as the summer tires or the ultra high performance all season, however have a great ride and long tread life.
I would suggest you talk to the tirerack.com or a local tire dealer you trust. I am not a tire expert. I put the ultra high performance all season on my SC430 and they made a big difference in the ride and handling over the Dunlop runflats. I went with the Bridgestone RE960 AS. Balancing is also a big issue. If properly ballanced (road forced ballanced) the SC will ride very smooth. If you have experienced a rough ride or vibrating on non runflats I would check the class of tires and if they are properly ballanced. Also there might be something wrong with the SC.

I recently bought an '02 and owned it all of 3 days before having regular tires put on it. Totally changed the ride and handling to 100% better than the RF's. I chose BF Goodrich Super Sports since they're made by Michelin. Lot's of folks here from what I've read, recommend the Michelin Pilots.

I replaced the run flat tires on my 2008 SC 430 with a set of MICHELIN Pilot® Sport A/S 245/40ZR18 93Y
Sidewall: Black Sidewall Model # (MSPN): 75552 tires.
They have made my SC ride one of comfort, quiet and sure handling. In fact, the handling is better than most of the cars I have had in the past.
I highly recommend these tires.

How to save money when upgrading your tires
I knew that I would be replacing the RF tires immediately after I picked up my 2008 SC.
In order to keep the price down to a somewhat reasonable level and eliminate the issue of trying to sell the original RF tires heres what I did:
Before I picked up the car I called three local tire dealers and told them I wanted to buy four new Michelin PS2's. Plus I wanted to trade in my almost new tires that would have less than 50 miles on them. What was the best they could do?
The first one was a regional chain and they said the couldn't resell used tires but they would give me a $50 discount on each tire. The next one offered a trade in of about $100 per tire. The third one looked up the price of the original RF tires and was surprised they cost so much.
He offered to take my old tires, install and balance the new Michelins for $500 including all taxes and fees. That's the offer I took and that was exactly the total when I picked up the car.
By the way, I love these tires and would highly recommend them.
So the moral of the story is, "If you don't ask, you don't get."
No magic, just a few phone calls.

I just replaced the tires on my wife's sc430...
with Bridgestone 960AS all around. These are much better than any runflat and a good overall tire. They get good ratings, have a 40K mile warranty and are reasonably priced. I would recommend them.
