a/c climate control problem
just bought an 04 sc400 with 66k miles.
the a/c works when the temp is set to 65 degrees. but any higher setting seems to turn on the heat or at least the outside air. fooled with dual vs single and same result. switched from outside to inside air, same result.
by controlling the fan I can control the amount of cooling, but I was wondering if this is a common issue, whether there is an easy fix, or whether I'm just not doing something right. I have two other older lexi (2001 rx 300 and a 97 ls400; previously had an sc400 for 14 yrs) so it's hard to believe that I'm not doing something right.
one thing. the car does have a salvage title and supposedly had some flood damage, but most everything seems to work, except cigarette lighter, but aux power recepticle works, and one direction on the driver's side side mirror, have the same problem with my ls400, and my sc400 was flooded twice and never had any issues after it was fixed.
any ideas or quick diagnostics?
thanks,
rick jaffe

Rick,
Are you checking this with the top up or top down? If it's down, you may be experiencing the "hot foot" issue that many of us have dealt with/are dealing with. See this thread....

If it's doing this with the top up, then yeah, I think you've got an issue going on.

I can live with it, but was hoping it was a setting or fuse type of thing.
thanks
