Rattling or Sloshing?
Hello everyone, go easy on me, this is my first post.
So to my problem:
The past couple of weeks I have been noticing a rattling, or sloshing noise coming from in-front on the dash area. So today i finally had enough time to open up the hood and take a look for my self. I open up the hood and to my surprise I see that the coolant cap is off and the coolant is below MIN. Right about now I'm think to my self, What?..How?...Expletive!!!.. Ok so today I go down to the dealership and pick up a 2 gallon refill. (but I Haven't Filled it Up yet)
Just so you know I'm not all that familiar with the whole coolant/ radiator system, I know how they work, but not how they should be in the norm.
Now my question is that since the coolant was so far below MIN., could air possibly gotten into the system and now there is a pocket of air causing the rattling/sloshing noise? I squeezed the the pipe leading from the radiator to the motor and now it seems as if it has gotten worse.
I opened up the radiator cap and it was about half way, full with air and the other half the pink coolant.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Kevin
Sorry but one last question, should I totally drain the system before filing it back up? or should topping it off be fine. I found the drain valve, and I've got to say it seems to be about the easiest process ever, it even gives you a hose! (my main concern is that something might have found its way into the tank while the cap was off)

Kevin,
Welcome to CL. I've encountered the same problem in my GS & SC. From what I remember the system has air in it. I think a flush takes care of it.
Good luck,
Johnny
