I have been looking through the forums and notice that many Lexus owners are painting the middle section of their roof black. Current Gen IS, GS and now SC. Here are some examples I have found on the forums:

Where does this mod originate from? Is it from a Lexus concept car that I dont know about or something? Or just something someone thought up?

Just wondering. Never seen such a universal mod applied across the Lexus lineup.

look at the current e class before the face lift. i believe it was one of the very first few to come up with the panorama glass roof. since then i start to see more and more people doing the black roof thing.

personally it's not my cup of tea

If it was glass would have real WOW factor.. but just paint dosent do anything for me.

Found this online, I guess most benz models come with the Panoramic roof. This is a pic of a Benz SL.

The Panoramic roof is pretty rare even on MB's. I have it on my SL and my wife's E55 has it as well. If I had to do it over again I certainly would.

correct, it's available on mb but definitely on the small portion side. i see them but most mb don't have them. it looks so darn good. the es350 has it too. but otherwise.....

If I'm not mistaken, that's the panoramic roof. I thought it was only available for the ES, but it looks like I was wrong. Very cool; special order; I saw it first on the E-Series several years ago. If Lexus hasn't done so already, I think this roof would be an immense feature for the SC430.

no, read again, it's just PAINT. only es350 has that option, and most mb has that option too

on the gs is and sc, all just paint

I see now, I just did a panoramic roof/Glass roof Google search. Even Porsche has one. I guess they are trying to emulate that look. Makes sense now.
