Is there a way to convert the back seat?
Does anybody know of a way to convert the back seat to useable storage/trunk space?
Sometimes when I drive to Vegas, or up the coast to the north bay etc for a weekend, I have a few suitcases and end up putting them in the back-seat. I usually like to have the top down and when I pull over to get gas or a quick bite to eat or whatever, I hate the way the bags look exposed like that.
Since nobody can fit in the backseat anyway, I was wondering has anybody converted it to storage area that can lock etc, but also look nice. Some kind of leather box/enclosure that can keep a 'stock' look of the car that's seemless and doesn't just look like a big box in the back seat.
In short I want to make it into attractive, useable, secure space so that my belongings are covered while I drive.
Anybody have any ideas???

Wow, that has to be the coolest thing I've ever seen. Very classy with the leather and the Lexus logo. How much did that one set you back if you don't mind my asking?
Some very nice amps you have there

Thanks for the info guys. The speaker/amp set-up looks pretty darn nice too! How does it sound and are they always on 'display' like that or is there also a way to cover them as to not temp unsavory type of people.

I was thinking the same thing. Unless this is purely a car built to display at shows, or with limited street use, I couldn't imagine parking somewhere with anything that impressive just "hanging out" in the back seat. The car in its base form is impressive enough without the "temptation" in the back seat! Although it does look like it would take some work to extract the goods. Nonetheless, it is impressive!

I really like the look of the "Cruising Shelf" but, from the pictures, it looks more like just a cover instead of a conversion kit. To really get some space back there, the back and bottom cushions should be removed (a la the MB SL's). Make it a true parcel shelf. It doesn't look (to me) like this kit does that.

That's exactly what it is. The top portion covers the rear headrests, across to a bar that has to be drilled into the interior by the seatbelts for the front seats, and hooks to the bottom of the rear seats with clips. Thus, you use your rear seats as the bottom portion of the newly created "compartment".
